My drivers side power window decides when it wants to work. sometimes its fine, others it only goes down and ii have to slap mydoor for it to roll up. guessing i have to buy a new motor and everything. took off the door but there is a piece of sheet metal blocking my pass to the motor.. anyone know how to fix this in Az? or know how to install and can give me pointers.. I know i come on here a lot asking for help, but so far everyone has been awesome- thanks in advance for the help!

Where are you slapping the door? I am willing to bet it is your switch. You can remove the switch assembly and open the driver switch. The driver switch has the auto down function and if it is not assembled correctly it won't work right. I suggest you pull the switch assembly out (with the door panel still affixed to the door), disconnect the switch assembly and take it to a place (like a well lit table top) where you can safely disassemble it without losing any of the small parts (there is a spring in it). Re-assemble the switch and reconnect it to the plug and try it.

Hopefully the successful re-assembly will fix the problem, if not then you could switch the front passenger switch in the assembly position and see if the problem persists - if it does, then you have a motor problem, if it doesn't persist then you know you need to replace the driver window switch!

Let us know what you find.

No. Your ears are telling you to read my previous reply and follow the guidance bestowed upon you, then report back to this thread with the results BEFORE you insert any more wisecracks!
:machinegunner:
it's the motor.... mine was doing the same thing. motors are like $80-$90. Just get it replaced
so i did as directed refraining from any wise cracks as directed and unfortunately came with no results. my window will not go down. I guess I will have to replace the motor... and I havent the slightest idea on how to do any of that...

My rear window on my driver side wont work from my control at the drivers side, but works perfectly at the door itself. i tried said advice but unfortunately- no results.. i dont get it.. lol

Hmmm.. the driver window won't go down, right? The left rear window won't operate from the driver window control, but it works fine from the left rear door control, right? What do they bot have in common? The driver window switch unit and the wires that run between them!

Try disconnecting the driver switch unit and applying 12 volts to the different pins on the plug that connects to the driver window control unit (use a jumper from the hot power outlet and make sure the key is in the full ON position) and see if the driver window or the left rear window operates. If they do operate, then you know it's not the motor or wiring but the switch assembly.

If you have been wheeling and bouncing and slamming the truck there's a good chance that you have loosened the connections.

Good luck, maybe someone else could chime in.
