Thanks for the post. I've noticed your lightbar before. Who makes that again? One of the reasons I want a bull bar is for a tie down point for a canoe. Do you think your lightbar is sturdy enough to use a canoe tie down point?

Just putting this out there. Most bull bars will limit your approach angles offroad so if you are going to offroad, it may be better to look at a new bumper instead so you get the strength and the ability to hold lights. Yes it is more expensive but they are worth it.

don't expect to use a westin bullbar for anything other than holding lights and looking pretty. plus it is going to impede your clearance if you see a little offroading, and would probably magnify damage if you get in an accident.

you can probably have a stronger custom bar made that is pleanty strong to double as a tie down point for overhead cargo for about the same price as a bullbar.

I'm not much of an offroader...mostly thinking about the looks with a tie down point being secondary issue.

Makes sense it could cause more damage in an accident. I was wondering if it would in any way affect airbag deployment? I'd love to buy a ARB or KMA front bumper but $1K is out of the question right now.

it wouldn't effect airbag deployment. airbag systems these days use accelerometers as opposed to the outdated system of crush sensors.

i don't know how hard you would need to crank those canoes down, but go to a 4x4 store that has them on display and you should be able to put some muscle on it to see if its sturdy enough to satisfy that use. they look thick, but use thin materials for the tubing- this coupled with the shape of the design really limits functionality for actual work.

The bull bar will help if somebody lightly backs up or rolls into the front of your truck, they're sort of like the ones you see on the front of police cars. The only real purpose besides that is just something to mount lights onto.

I personally wish I'd went with a shrock bumper, def worth the extra $$$ for the sturdyness and it looks [email protected]$$ but a bull bar is better than a plain front end to me.

I like mine, it is certainly more for look than might, unless I take it off and fill it with concrete to strenthen it up! Plus cheap was good, got it for 85 bucks shipped new off ebay!
