Hi everyone!

I have a 2003 Frontier XE 2.4L that I purchased new in 03'. It has worked so well and overall I am very happy with it.

Changing the oil is the only thing I dread about this truck. The oil filter is located in a place that is a real hassle to uninstall/reinstall the oil filter [changing oil in the 2009-2010 Frontier models are so much easier compared to the 03' models].

I never even heard of a oil filter location kit until today [I know, duh, what planet have you been living on...]!

Ok, I located one at JEB's and here is the url of the exact kit I am thinking about purchasing: Trans Dapt 1158

It is item number: Trans Dapt #969-1158 and it is called:
Trans-Dapt Performance Products OIL FILTER RELOCATION KIT

Ok, now my questions...

1. Has anyone here ever relocated your oil filter and if so, what brand did you use?

2. Has anyone used one of these Trans-Dapt Performance Products and if yes, how was the quality?

3. Has anyone here used an oil filter relocation kit for Frontier 03' and if yes, where did you relocate it to?

4. Anyone else here have a 03' Frontier and understand what I mean by a total hassle to change the oil?

5. Can someone here help me make a good choice on resolving this 7 year headache?

It's me,

4x4parts sells a kit. You may or may not want to add a cooler. RoastBeef did this mod on his truck and did a write-up, just search and you will find it.

Dubie,

Thanks for your reply. I need more specific advice and info. Roastbeef's mod/post was for an oil cooler. He also obtained parts from 4x4parts whereas I have heard better reports about JEB's. I need info not on an oil cooler, but a relocation kit for a 2003 Frontier XE 2.4L. I am hoping someone out here has actually installed and used the relocation kit with the item number Trans Dapt #969-1158.

Hopefully I am not being too specific, but I thought it would at least be worth a try.

I have only made a few posts here at ClubFrontier Forums. I was hoping to find and interact with people that are kind, friendly and helpful. Are most people here negative and fault finding, or is it just you?

Or do people with more than 4,000 post at ClubFrontier Forums receive a license for being unkind and rude?

Please do educate me mr. dubie, as you can see, I am just a very tiny newbie with 7 posts...

Thanks,

Soar

i used permacool

2. Has anyone used one of these Trans-Dapt Performance Products and if yes, how was the quality?
very few are using relocation kits, i do not know why more people don't on the 2.4 as i understand the filter location is not easy to access. not sure about that brand.

3. Has anyone here used an oil filter relocation kit for Frontier 03' and if yes, where did you relocate it to?
my truck is different then yours, you are going to have to figure out a location once you get the kit depending on the length of the hoses provided.

4. Anyone else here have a 03' Frontier and understand what I mean by a total hassle to change the oil?

whatever you do dont get the one you can get at auto zone. the sandwich adapter was cast incorrectly so there were 2 places about 1/16" wide that would let oil leak. recommended oil filter would leak so now there is only one oil filter (bosch...bleh) available that will work and even still only half the o-ring covers the defective areas. POS. thats what it is. cooler works good tho. just a pita if bosch ever decides to change their filter design.
