The one thing I hate most is a nail in my tire! I got poked by one today with only 2100 miles on the tire. So I took it to a local tire shop, and the guy said they can't patch it. I want to call BS on the guy, but I know nothing about tire repair. He said it was too close to the sidewall. What do you guys think???

Thinking about it more, you may be able to plug and patch it but I still would swap it with the spare tire so that you are not riding on it every day. This is only if the dealer won't do anything for you.

Yeah, I got the spare on there now. The tire with a nail only had 19psi. I don't think the warranty covers nails, I think that is only for defects in the tire....

I had close to the same issue when I got my truck. I took it to a place that cauterized the spot. Worked great and never had an issue with the tire. Stayed on thetruck until I wore them out. Think it cost me about $15.

Warranty won't cover road hazard. I had almost the exact thing happen to me. I was able to get a patch from a repair shop, however.

on another note.
If you cant find anyone to patch it (I find that hard to believe). have your local tire shop put a tube in it and put it on the spare rim. I had a small sidewall puncture a couple weeks after I got my truck. I swapped out the spare, had them dress the sidewall puncture and tube it. I have used that tire a couple times, but other than that, it holds air just fine.

Had a rock poke small hole in a BFG Rugged on Friday - it was dead center so was able to fix, but, POS tires - probably 350# in back and on a county road, real Rugged huh? Inspires confidence! One more flat and they will be history - might even try or at least look at some LT215/85R16

This way you can save the tire, but I've learned, that if you plugged, the next time you get a flat, some tire shop refuse to patch the tire, if they found you got a plug, it's just some source of safety policy they got, and they rather not fix it, if you get a blow out down the road and that cause accident, they don't want to take that. I don't know how many tire shop out there are like this, but Walmart will not do it, I got a plug on one of my tire that I saved in the past, and when I got a screw, they don't want to fix it, so I had to plug it again. Which is fine to us. But they will not patch, if the tire has been plugged before.
