Ok, so here's the story.........went to work day before yesterday. Parked truck at 6:30 am. Got back in the truck at 7:10pm. Windshield has upside down L shaped crack coming from exactly where my black GPS suction cup is located. There are no dings, chips, or anything indicating where a rock or anything may have hit the windshield.
Trust me, I was so ill at the thought that maybe the heat caused by the black disc of the suction cup may have caused this.
Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Any suggestions as to how I should approach getting this fixed? Dealer? Insurance?
I'd like any input from the wonderful people on this Nissan forum. Thanks:sickly:

I'd call your insurance and find out if you have any windsheild coverage. If you don't you'll have to pay your deductable amount if you go though them.
I always called a local auto glass company. Almost all will come to your house or work and change it out for you. I have no idea what a window would cost for a frontier...maybe someone else can chime in with that. I wouldn't go to the dealer.

same thing happened to me but upon closer inspection there was a teeny tiny chip at the very bottom of the windshield, under the wiper, most likely caused by a small rock. went in to work, windows up, and when i got back in the afternoon there was a big L crack. my dealer will only order the glass which was around 400 i believe. then they will call on glass experts to do the install. which was another 100 or so bucks. my suggestion go to the windshield experts they told me that frontier glass was all the same (not sure of this) with the blue tint on the top and the dots by the rearview mirror. the lowest i found in cali was around 120 installed. the dealer i go to referred me to their go to guy and he quoted me 200 installed with new moldings....

good luck!

How hot was it? I have heard of this before but there may have been a tiny flaw under the suction cup.

aftermarket windshield is 230 bucks... I know because I had to pay to replace mine because the freakin insurance company never put the non-deduct glass coverage on my policy when I transfered it to my truck from my old car.

I had two cracked windshields within a couple of months on my 08. Never had one on any of my other vehicles, so I wonder if the Frontier is more prone to them.

Insurance covered both.
