Some of the photos are gone due to Photobucket trying to update the photos on a new site...
oct 11.
drove 6 hours. owner said it he would easily drive it 4 hours because that is as far as he has ever gone in it.

in the parking lot half a mile from his home.

went to fill it up with gas. before heading home. 1/4 mile down the road.
get in to start and click click.... dead battery. figures.

new alt/belt later.(battery was 2 months old)

start on the highway...
30 min later...

1 hour after the hose.

back on the road. made it 15 min. check engine light. vss finially popped up. (speedo didnt work.)

was sold the wrong one. got the right one and it works.

after 3 days of ordering and getting the wrong parts.

check engine light again. vacuum leak. the boot at the end of the intake between the tb and maf. cracked. made my own intake out of parts i had on my car when i got home but taped it up to make it there.

made it 20 miles before the CEL again.

Knock sensor.(still have to fix that one.)

it took 18 hours to get home. was kinda P.O. at the seller for saying it would make it and stuff... i knocked what he was asking down by 800. he countered with taking 1000 off. so in the end i paid that 1000 in parts and tools to make it home. kinda sucked but is what it is.

cleaned up the plastics.(in progress. first coat on pass fender flare)

after fresh wash.

i hate chrome.

cleaned up the frame.

now i got a p2700 code. trans friction element. its a 5 speed. code poped up while i was on the beach hittin some puddles. code dissapeared by the time i got home.(i have a odb bluetooth scanner i keep in each vehicle i own.)

did roughly 3k miles and all was fine after ^
drove across state 2 diff times to get both motor and a diff truck for bro. work and haluing my trailer(have to mod my trailer some so the gate isnt 3 inch's off the ground. gonna do under axle swap to raise it 3.5 inch's and it should solve my issue with it.)

go for lunch on monday. and all was fine and HEALTHY. end of work after unloading the other truck/trailer of cabinets and no spark. quick tear down reveled dist was not spinning.

tues rode my bike to work and that night crunched my leg. today i hopped around on one leg and got close to getting the belt completely off. no puller that i can find atm.

where it is at right now.

Finially...

12 teeth gone. Wasnt as bad as people have said to get to it. Was roomy compaired to my fofo or neons or metro.... anything fwd. I did have to remove more them the ta but it wasnt bad. Few hours hobling around with alot of sit down breaks. Came out easy. The miss's did the rest. Harmonic removal and lower cover water pump... all ready lined up most of the way just have to pick up parts in the am to reatart assembly.

gotta ask. my truck has a 3 inch body lift ontop of the factory body mounts. also sitting on some 31.5.
what is the kit they used any CLUE? im just curious. not gonna remove it or go threw the hastle of even atempting to remove it just woundering because when i looked up body lifts its only the pucks. just curious if it was a kit with everything or if some of the things were shop made to work.
under radiator.

Not positive, but looks like parts I got in my body lift. Performance Accessories. Mine came with that radiator mount add-on too.

narrows down the search. i just like to know what is what incase something breaks or fails...

good news is she's back to running again!!! new belt tent and wp bled and running. just have to fine tune the distrib setting when i get a light (sometime this weekend) have to get a shifter assembly for a 01 s10. gonna try for a exhaust or pipe to weld one up. i need the trans tunnel seal for the shifter for the frontier. need alota little things. gonna start knocking the list down when i find them(also gotta order some new pcb boards cant find any of my stacks of them atm. so i can start my led conversion)

in case anyone is interested. this is the type of led conversion i will be doing in the end. when i get bored that is.
thats my log for the past couple of years of wrenching on the only ford i have ever bought. getting ready to put her up for sale when i put new tires on and a few minor touch ups.(dont feel right selling something that needs the lil bit of work that i know the next owner wont do and blow er up) that was my last headache car of ALOTA work.

friend came over and grabbed my led stuff for me(couldnt make it to that half of the garage 1 legged.)
forgot to paint before hand but its temp until my new double sided boards get here. and i get the time to cnc some new boards. when i start that again i will be doing tail lights at the same time. just have to figure out the cnc software to do pcb boards.

so much more room just didnt feel the need for more. i will be adding 4-6 more on the next one.

remembered i had a sharpy in my desk.(after both were completed)

plugs into the original plug.
(one of many lost pics)

drivers map light only.

both map lights on

dome light(oem)

led

it is brighter then oem. when i get to adding the center console leds and under seats/pedals doors... then i will be able to see a human hair anywhere in the cab like i can in my fofo.

all lights on.

hate having tools everywhere. hopefully soon i can quit carrying tools with me.(when i trust it to make it where ever i want)

last week i went 1200 miles away. drove like a champ for 22 hours. until i pulled off the highway for the last time. then tick tick tick... 1 mile away was a oil change place(was heading there anyways.) by the time i pulled in. ticking was gone. did a change. they pulled 3.2q out. and put in 3.5. all was fine.
driving around in Oklahoma and i start hearing a bad rattle...
the weld at the muffler snapped on from the backside to the tail pipe. so now i have no pipe. it was holy and i was going to bend my own up. i have the pipe from when i did my focus and ways to bend it. just no time atm.

about the time i hit Georgia to come home ticking came back at a rest station i stopped at for a few hours of r&r. was dark. could see the pass side header puffing. was a tiny crack, quieted down when warmed up. check engine light for clogged cats. figures...

home and ordered a ebay manifold set.(tapped out for cash atm bought a new washer/dryer ontop of the week vacation and all junkyards in my area dont have a single manifold that isnt broken.)

plan on removing the front cats. welding new bungs in for behind the secondary cats and making them the primary cats unless they are clogged and i cant clean them out well enough to use then its straight pipe until i can get a good set of highflow cats. (i like having them for peace of mind)

new issue is
now in 5th gear when city driving. under 50 it pops out of gear. Fantastic! so if i find a trans on sat i will be picking one up. not changing it until feb area when i do the clutch system. i might save the 100 right now and use it to get new lights and bumpers for mine and the miss's car. 100 all u can carry is sat at the junkyard. already have to go pull 1 motor/trans for bro's truck again... and some nicknacs for family that doesnt want to go to the junkyard and help. so i am making them pay top $$$!

headers should be here on the 2nd. more leds should be here fri or sat. and my outlet plugs should be here mid jan(WTF) they are already shipped just gonna be 2 months from now for some reason...

Wow, a lot needed fixing !

I've owned a 2004 King Cab of that color since late 2011 (mine has not had the paint sheet off either, common if parked in sunlight every day with peeling on the afternoon side), and I've had NOTHING of the issues you've had. But note that mine is a 4-cylinder, 5-speed.

All I've done besides oil changes has been a new battery, new speakers, new tires, new fuel filter, new air filter, new shocks, new power steering idler pulley, and new water pump (and lower radiator hose when I did that). I also added aftermarket cruise control.

Taken it out of state on vacations each year.

not as bad as some of the things i have owned. and not the cheapest car have owned either. had a 98 kia sophia. 5 speed paid $100 for it not running. added clutch fluid charged the battery and drove for 2 1/2 years without even doing a oil change. clutch went out. and sold it for 400 to a guy who wanted a project for his sons first car.

all in all i just wish it was a little more spread out on the repairs part. i like to get sare cash before something breaks. not break fix break fix break... then sometime next year i can do soemthing for the miss's bday (she said she would wait until the truck is running right and hers is fixed. did put a new system in hers. same with the washer dryer the vacation... but she wasnt handed a actual present so she is waiting... impatient but waiting)

forgot to mention. right before the trip.

that was fun...

body lift prob made it easyer...

and now i know how bad my headers were...

drivers side wasnt as bad only one crack.
(photo gone :(..)

installed.

couldnt get the darn o2sensors out so i have to buy new ones... the post cats are HEAVY! couldnt find my scope to see how they looked... but i will be going to a exhaust shop or just ordering the $150ish y pipe. but then again i could just weld my own. will decide that one after i see what the shops around will charge to do it. if its cheaper then my pfft i wont pay that then i will have new piping front to back installed. or even just bent up and i will weld and install myself. all depends on the $ tag.

had to weld up the egr bung. 3 hours of driving around and noone had anything close to fitting in the hole...

why the heck would they do this to meh!

LOng stud. didnt see that listed anywhere about having to get shorter ones...

wasnt hard to install the cheap headers. just a Pain to get the heat shields off... had to enlarge the top 3 holes on each side. by 1/16th a inch. they were off by enough the bolt wouldnt thread in. next drill bit bigger and prob solved.

not much louder. maybe 5 db's. feels like she has a lil more pep in er step. could be the cloged cats could be the low back pressure. i still think the post cats are cloged. pipe was used on bros truck while i was gone. so im out again... all good. it was free.

valve covers are leaking... go midas for "replacing" them and charging the guy for it. all they did was tighten them down more :( another thing i getta look foward to doing...

been a not so great last 6 months. (trying to figure out google photos due to photobucket crap... when i do the photos will be updated)
oct i blew the trans on my truck(synchrows finialy went out they have been failing since day 1). early nov blew my r6 trans(bent a shift fork). late nov i laid down the ls650 i bought for the miss's due to someone running a stopsign screwing up my left leg. while healing up from that i replaced my trans on my bike. then a few days before christmas i laid it down.(hit a gravel patch on the road mid turn) screwing up my right leg jan i made some new stickers for my truck.

ordered a new transmission for er also.
begin of feb area. i got the trans installed(04 trans with under 100k) also installed a new clutch flywheel rear main slave crank angle sensor.

somewhere around the trans time i also installed some hood struts...

fixed both bikes so i can have my daily back(wont give my bike up if i can help it and i have a trip in june to do the devils triangle again)

the begining of march i saw a sc on fb for 300 bucks(came with the lower intake ecu pulley setup).

bought new plugs for the sc model.
was in the process of running the tank out of gas when the next leg injury happened. nailgun missed and shotmyself in the leg hitting every tendon and the main artery on my left leg right below the knee... just starting to be able to stand for more then 2 hours at a time. still cant lift my left foot off the floor.(was told it could take up to a year before my leg was fully healed)

the next day i got a alert from lkq of a frontier with a brushguard and a k&n intake on it. got a ride to go get them. well worth the 50 bucks. just gotta drill the 2 holes in my messed up bumper to install it(mainly for looks i know they dont protect much)

bought a new set of tires from tire kingdom. (there financing was EASY and helpful to building my credit)

got the SC installed. (had multi issues doing that) gaksets leaks and such... I did finially replace my VC gasket that leaked forever! and couldnt get the truck to idle or rev above 3k. (maf) bought a new one and i couldnt idle and had no power under load when i was under 3k rpm(no clue still) i did take the sc ecu back off and put in my non sc ecu and all issues went away. think the sc ecu i got is bad. truck idles at 700 rpm. around 5200 i have a miss right before redline(gonna fine tune the timing tomorrow) but i am finially quicker then out 04 trailblazer!!! and i sound so much nicer.

cant beat how clean the insides were...

also had to get a new battery again. terminals. belts and a few hoses.

my dirty dirty engine bay. (there are random extra parts in the engine bay in the photo i have replaced alot of parts that i am sure i forgot to list)

next things are to get new o2 sensors. fix my exhaust that fell off in oklahoma... gotta figure out how to get more then 3 psi.(gonna start trouble shooting that tomorrow if i dont get distracted...)
then to work on some more electric. and to start tinkering with the truck again

photos of how she sits right now(gotta fix the brush guard for fitment)

Mine has only needed oil changes since the above last report, sounds like yours is a complete opposite truck !!! Maybe my 4-cylinder, 5-speed, and 100K is why.

I will report that I do have 3 Service Engine Soon codes, but we don't have emissions tests in my county. I have P0462 and P0406 and one other that I'm too lazy to look up. In no particular order, these are for fuel tank level monitor (likely requires a tank drop, and my fuel level gauge works fine), the temperature sender for the EGR (which requires a 14mm socket with a slit for the sender wire) and a thermostat (which I didn't replace back when I installed a water pump). So I just ignore those, as they are the constant orange-yellow warning, not a flashing or a red. I'd bet it would be at least $300 for the fuel sender code repair, and guess a shop would want to replace the fuel pump while in there, at 100K miles.

still no paint damage? in the past 6 months or so. i went from 1 little spot on the fender to the entire front end. i am looking at repainting the truck when i have the time. just gotta find the right blue i want. my pass fender and hood are beyond repair paint wise now. have been thinking about just painting the hood black for now to just "cover" the messed up paint.(if i do i am painting the top of the cab at the same time for looks...) but in that time she has sat in one spot for not having a transmission.

i do beleave part of the issues i have had are in part of what my lil truck goes threw.

i have gone deep enough water wise to fill the bed. at work i have towed over 5k pounds.(around 9k) i have squatted my poor truck with weight when my trailer was mia so i was forced to use the bed. then there is the trips with 1 motorcycle 2 mini bikes 1 atv 4 people 10k rounds of ammo. camping gear for 4 people, along with a grill 3 coolers full of food/ice. (this trip is what finialy did 5th gear in.)

the long drives to and from diff stated is what started the trans issues. she didnt like being in 5th gear for 26 hours straight running. new trans should last a long while. also didnt like towing a trailer for 14hours. got a little warm which started the train to get all the sc parts for cooling, and ended up with the supercharger because i had every other part might as well make it more fun...

all in all i Dont plan on giving my lil truck up. have wanted this body style since around 2003. just could never afford it back then. was torn between this and a newer one(power wise) but i couldnt get m mind to like the newer body style without the flares being "bolt on" instead of being part of the sheet metal.

My 2004 Frontier has that same electric blue metallic paint, but mine has been spared paint flaking off, likely because it doesn't see much direct sun, which I believe is crucial. My neighbor has a 2003 Frontier with this same paint, and the side that faces the mid-day and afternoon Arizona sun is completely flaked off, yet the other side is fine. I'll bet when folks see his they decide to steer clear of Nissan, who apparently never owned up to the issue.

there is a blue around my area that is long bed that is HORRIBLE! that thing not only has the front peeling. the top of the cap is completly peeled. doors are halfway peeled. the bed is almost peeled. it LOOKS Horrible. cant wait till i get to clean up the paint on mine. love the blue with a charcoal grey plastics. looking threw the old photos to update this thread and i remembered how much i liked the dark colored plastics. just ordered another different type of plastic restore product. sapose to be the #1 rated for 2017 and 2018. will see if it works... need to make some mounts for my lightbars now. soon to be all better looking even tho i am still 2wd atm.(still trying to buy a 4wd manual off craigslist to save it from the junkyard but havent found one yet that i can take all the 4wd parts from...)

restore product came in had to try it... here is the photos after trying it.

now to make some decals...

figured out what keyword i needed to use to be able to get more then 3 pounds of boost when searching...

1st launch gauge read 11 psi then a Horrible clanking noise. figured i blew something.

Flowmaster down!

looks like a new exhaust is in need. not to not get pulled over tomorrow.(have a jury duty summons in the morning...)

belt slips a little. i get between 9-12psi now. more then i was expecting. but that is saying my 35 gauge is right...

as a update. somewhere around 2 months after adding the sc the motor went. most likly put a hole in a few pistons but not 100% sure. have a horrid milkshake in the radiator. It knocks BADLY and smokes like a vape competition... i knew the motor wouldnt last forever. i did not care. before i SC'd it i was down on compression and knew i had 4 cyl that had bent valves. figured the SC would either straighten the motor out or blow it up. i had plans to buy a new motor either way. well today is the day that i bought said new motor. and what better way to buy a motor then one with 2k miles less then the one u have now with a complete car around it. 0 leaks 0 noise issues Minus the cracked exhaust manifold(who cares ima use my long tube headers) granted the suspension and alot of oter parts had issues but motor/trans was Perfect(not that i need a auto transmission either) hoping to have this motor pulled this week and put in my truck. IF all goes to plan.

bought a 03 xterra SC model. guy i bought it from drove it for 3 hours from the person he bought it from. (he was a parts/scrapper type guy) i drove 2 hours home with zero issues... car is far from perfect. but the parts i want are perfect. now to find a way to add photos again...(still havent found a new photo bucket type place)

Well my truck is finially running after so long sitting.

Pics of what happened. To the xterra. And 2 of the many damaged plugs in my old motor. Didnt strip it to see the whole damage but smashed plugs is normally not a good thing...

On the xterra someone tried rewelding the exhaust manifold.

The green/grey plug I had to rejoin to go on my old non sc harness. They have the coolant temp sensors as part of those plugs unlike the non sc harness.(could also be a 02 to 03 difference...)

Builds 3-5 psi. Jot gonna worry/mess with it till after the move(next month 800 miles away) but she runs and moves under her own power again!!!

To the exhaust shop next week or so... so I can quit running just open pipe after the downstream cat.
