I randomly saw a completely overstretched old-school limo today (honestly almost as long as a yellow bus), and realized that it probably chugs through dinosaur carcasses at least twice as fast as I do

8 miles to the gallon most likely. A buddy of mine just got rid of his Chevy 454 because it was getting 8mpg.
Overall, I would say my Gen 1 gets decent fuel mileage.
My 1971 Chevy got 8 to 10 depending on how close I was to the 3000 miles tuneup.
My 1998 Chevy S-10 only got around 24 mpg in a 4 cylinder

On those trucks, You would be surprised what kind of fuel mileage you can get out of a diesel. If they are tuned right and driven the way they are tuned, they will do decent. Even towing. I suspect those F650s get better than 10 mpg.

I get 17 to 18 MPG in my CC LE 4x4 driving 12 miles each way to work in mixed traffic each day here in Austin, Texas. It goes down over 1 MPG during the winter when the government pushes us to use the crappy blended ethanol CRAP. Please kill off pork barrel crap like ethanol as it is a waste of corn and US money. Ethanol = the FAIL. Screw all those with the yellow gas caps and let them enjoy poorer gas mileage and the same subsidise government pricing as those purchasing regular dino based fuel.

No thanks, I'll stick with the ole crude based gas as it is FAR better for MPG without raising food prices. Now if we can just master alternate sources of energy besides corn, I'm all for it if it displaces oil. I'm not a tree hugger, but I do like the shade and can't wait for alternate sources that make REAL sense. ;)

Great post, guy. I've researched in my local area and out of town, where I can purchase non ethanol gas. I've noticed on average of about a + 2mpg difference, not to mention that the power and performance is back. Yeah, I do wish Congress would get a clue. Ethanol is not helping anyone, except the chosen few.

I really wasn't trying to beat a dead horse with the gas milage debate, :comphead:
I just thought the ford truck link was funny.... in a cool sort of way.
I wonder if they discuss poor milage on their site?:laugh:
