yesterday i followed my cousin to this place near our house where alot of people go wheeling on fourwheelers and some trucks. my cousin had been there a few time with his z71 and said it was 2wd friendly. when we got there a lot of it was dry except for this one puddle. it was probably 1.5'-2' on one side and 2.5'-3' one the other and 20 feet or so long. i went through it on the shallow side and middle several times with no problem then on my last go through i went closer to the deeper side. as i went through i punched the gas to make sure i could make it and and water came up splashed on the hood but didnt engulf it. when i got through my truck started hesitating and when i tried to go over 2500 rpm it went da da da da da and i had to shift. i brought it to the car was and hosed it down tap off the air filter and it was fine.

can anyone explain what happened so i dont do this again and f*** up my truck.

it says in your sig that you have a custom CAI. post up a pic of it. more then likely water got on your filter and interrupted your maf reading.

Sounds like you got some water into the coils or wiring. It happed to me when I steamed cleaned my engine one time. It causes a misfire situation. You'll know if the SES light was flashing. Doubt you sucked water into the intake because It was cause some more serious problems like hydrolocking, you can look in the bottom of the air box and see where there was signs of water. IDK just some ideas for ya.

The guys that are that say it's intake are right.

We don't have ignition wires.

Yes, you are correct in say we dont have a distributor points system but the coils do have wiring to them for power/ground/5v reference signal. I was explaining on past experience with my previous frontier where I had detailed the engine and had got water into the coil wire connectors. This caused a misfire and the same problem he was exhibiting. I was not ruling out that water got into the intake, I was simply giving a past experience with the same symptoms.

Safe Mode or Limp Home Mode is when the engine goes to a specific default setting so that it can still operate and not leave you stuck on the side of the road. I will reduce the engine performance and output.

i know but even with a lift your still at risk of this happening. my truck sits almost three inches higher than a stock xe and i have no lift thats just from my new rims and tires.

How do you figure? Your truck came stock with about a 31" diameter tire. In order to ride 3 inches higher only because of tires, you would need a 6" larger diameter tire. So to ride 3" higher because of tires you would need a 37" diameter tire. 37's will definitely not fit a frontier without some very serious modifications.
