I'm building my Frontier as a semi-prerunner, meaning the bank owns it for the next six years so don't want to do any heavy modifications until it's mine free and clear but do what the prerunner look. With that said I'm looking to put a light cage on the roof, now do I go with the old school look of 4 or 5 big round off-road lights in a cage or go with the new school sleek looking 50 inch led bar? I love both looks, just curious what you all think, some pro's and con's of each would be helpful also.

I put a straight 50 inch on my Jeep jk and it howled enough that I took it off. I imagine the curved bar may be better. They do look nice though.

Pros for LED: much less amperage draw on the alternator, low profile, very bright/white light, robust mounting systems, less prone to cracking.
Cons for LED: light doesn't always project as far as high watt halogen. Much lower heat so snow will build up on the lights bar (if snow is a concern of yours).

I run a led light bar.
Combination fog and spots can be combined in one.
Bad thing is if it is damaged, you lose everything
Also, a quality led light bar are expensive. Maybe not required for your intentions but I do need reliability.
Also, a cage is not needed. Easier to mount with less fab work.
The halogens are better at high speed but I don't come close to those speeds where they are necessary.
Also, like Zedbra mentioned, they take a lot of juice.
But they look cool!

All great tips/suggestions - depends on your wants/needs.

Also note, if you don't manually wash your truck, most car washes won't accept light bars as a fyi (could do a touch less wash).

IMO the "modern" lightbar type on the roof works better with the body styling of the 2nd gen Frontier... but the "old school" individual round lamp style works better with the 1st gen body styling.

Then again I have old school style 6.5" PIAAs on the front bumper of my truck, so it's possible I don't know what the hell I'm talking about LOL

I had some old school 6" KC daylighters with the 150watt pencil beams. They have been burning out, and I have been replacing them with cheap 6" KC knock offs. Only in 100watt. Was considering LED 6" round, but you can find 100watt 6" rounds for $10. The LEDs I want would be closer to $100 per.
