Well, I have been in contact with my local dealer, regional service manager, and Nissan customer care to remedy the bedside paint chipping I've been experiencing since I bought my truck in December. At first I was turned down my the local regional rep because he just stated that it was environmental and that it happens... Not a good enough answer for me... So, I talked to the service manager at my dealer and he told me to call Nissan again. I did and was not taking no for an answer. Through all of the talks, I continually pointed out the poor design that the bedside catches all road debris and finally Nissan has agreed to have my truck repainted. The appointment is in 2 weeks and they are even putting on a set of step bars and rock guard clearcoat to further protect it. I wanted to pass this along to everyone that if you're experiencing the same defect, go after the OEM... It worked for me.

Mine has been chipping above the wheel wells and all the way back. It also has some chipping above the clear gaurds at the base of the rear wheel wells. Any idea if this is similar to you?

sounds like you had an easy route a lot of them dealing with this issue get screwed over.

I know what rock chips are, these are areas where a quarter wont even cover up the chip. Theres atleast 10-15 of them on each side.

You could do a clear 3M application. Of course, it will get nicked itself at some point and you will notice it but at least the paint will survive.

just talk to your local dealer he will give it to ya,too bad it did not come with it,my truck has some on in a few different places cab corners and down low on the bed,i think these would be common places for chipping/rust

I've seen some people have had that Rhino hide finish, shot along the lower rocker panels and about 5-6 inches along the lower edge of the bed and cab. It is a thought.

Mine is all kinds of chipped up all around the tape that Nissan puts on the bedside in front of the wheel well. To be honest, it almost looked sandblasted. I know for sure that paint gets screwed up, but less that 10k miles and all that damage concentrated in one place?? Seems strange. Other than that, nothing else chipped on the whole truck.
