I ordered a set of firestone ride rite airbags for my truck,.. should be here by wendsday,.. I plan on replacing the autozone helper leafs in hopes of a better ride,. I'm thinking about getting one of those automatic ride hight valves and hooking it to my onboard air system,.. then maybe getting some 1.5 lift shackles with hopes that the air bags will help from me wiping out my already worn rear leafs,.. then maybe some bilstien ajustables up front to even it out,.. input?

I'm not sure how they will do when you don't have a load in the bed. If you run them too high, it will be pretty stiff but you will still get body roll.

If you were looking for lift and ride quality, a set of custom leafs may have been better.

I always thought the bags were mainly used for towing and loads?

the main reason that I'm getting them is for towing,.. I've got a 14ft tamdem axle cargo trailer,... thats why my leafs are worn out,... with the helper springs I gained a little bit of a lift or maybe it just compensates for all the crap I end up carrying around,.. the lift will come from the shackles,.. and the bags will hopfully just take up the little bit of slack in that means,... and the front well I just want to level it out and have some flexability,.. also in the summer I end up hauling scuba gear in the bed an 10 tanks can put a hurtin on them,... yeah origonaly I was just looking at some add a leafs but figure with the towing,..

if you have air bags then shackles won't work in the rear, you have to use blocks. I installed those bags on a taco that had worn leafs and with about 10 pounds of air it was back to stock ride height unloaded.

they make pucks to go under the bags for lifts,.. I was just going to try it and see, if not I'll get the welding shop to make me some out of some scrap pipe,.. I never did like blocks afer seeing the axle wrap on some of these crazy lifts,.. bags come first then as funds allow the rest will come,.. I'll try to get some pics as it progresses

As 06 is saying...Add a spacer and then shackles. You can find airbags that will give you quite a bit of lift but if you have to use too much air the ride is ruff and if you stress out the springs they will break. Spacers and shackles should solve your problems. If you will add a lift valve and dump valve to each bag to run them independently it will get rid of the body roll because the air can shift between the bags.
