My 5th wheel

Bought the trailer a couple weeks ago and got the 5th wheel put in last weekend. Took our first trip this weekend and things went great, this truck had no issues pulling the trailer (4500lbs. GVW, 19 ft ) and what ever we still had in the truck, even went looking for the steep hills and no problems. Heres a picture of our rig.

Very nice setup. I don't think I've heard of anyone around here doing something like that. Thanks for sharing and welcome to the club!
looks good..
probably a stupid question but i'm assuming this isnt a permanent mount. how easy or time consuming is it to remove if you were to need the bed?
Nice to see someone hauling a reasonable size trailer with a reasonable size truck instead of the gargantuan rigs one usually sees this time of year!
i gotsta know what your mileage dropped to towin that thing around
I can remove the 5th wheel in about 5 mins (weighs about 100 lbs), only the rails remain in the bed and the are about a 1/4" high.

If your gonna tow anything it's gonna cost, don't really pay to much attention to fuel prices, cause I can't change them anyway.... you wanna play you gotta pay...like they say.
Interesting... When I had my Titan the forum I was in said that a 5th wheel wasn't do-able with a short bed. Looking at your setup, I see you did just that. How far can you turn without hitting the cab? Enjoy your trailer, have a great time.

Nice set up.
O man i wish i could do that ! maybe some day ?:goodjob:
The 5th wheel is a sliding unit, in that, I can adjust where it sits in the pickup bed. When I picked up the trailer I had it set at the furthest setting back, got a bit of highway bounce at that setting, so I moved it up one notch, about 3 inches, problem solved. I can still turn the truck as tightly as I want and the corner misses the back of the cab by about 3 inches.
Very cool to see a Frontier with a 5th wheel setu.... Wait what?!

That's awesome man. I haven't seen anyone else ever do that before. How does it handle compared to hitch towing with the Frontier?
very nice & pratical
my father in law has that kind of setup on his diesel f-250. never seen it done on a fronty. of course, his 5th wheel is massive, needs a huge truck to pull it
That Is Sweet Man..... Makes Me Want To Go Out And Buy Toy Hauler :) Now That I Seen The Front Can Have 5th Wheel.

WHAT MODS HAVE YOU DONE TO THE TRUCK? OR IS IT STOCK?
That is pretty cool. I would not be able to tow anything I need a 5th for with my fronty but That motor home does not look too bad.
Sweet, glad our trucks are capable of pulling a 19 ft 4500# trailer. Lookin' good!

The trailer pulls really nice, the tandem axles are key to not getting the tail wagging the dog effect, which happens more so with single axle trailers. I haven't pulled anything with a standard bumper style hitch on this truck.
