mud flap idea thread

obviously alot of 4x4 guys have removed their mudflaps because they just get tore up on the trails , but in some states like Az you can get a ticket for not having them , so i was wondering what you guys have come up with for removable mud flaps
here is the idea i came up with that i will be using on both trucks
takes about 5 seconds to remove the mudflap

the cops bug us a lot here for the mudflaps - the rule is you need 50% of the tire covered. When i had my huge 78 Blazer, there was myself and a lot of people that put our flaps on with a similar metal straight bar, but then put a chain on the flap that could be easily pulled up and latched to the frame when muddin / crawling. you always knew who was serious off roading if they had the chains. those without were there to mall crawl

Oregon has a law that mud flaps are required. I don't really like the look of them, so this is what I did with them.
haha

The nice thing is that in Oregon if you get a ticket for not having them and you fix it, the law states that the judge is required to dismiss it. So if I get a ticket, they will go on for court and that is it. If I lived in AZ, and didn't have a garuntee of getting out of it, I would do the same thing you are.

yeah i paid $25 for the mudflaps , and had most of the metal left over from the tail light cage
only other metal i had to buy was the flat plate to weld to the tube which was $3 for 4 pieces :)

theking has removable flaps. they are fence pole that slide into the frame and secure by twisting and locking into place, with a peice of rubber bolted to them. i don't have any pics. he tore one off backing up last time we were out, he backed up a small ledge and tore one off. haha

i need to do something about my lack of flaps as well.
