Just bought a clean 06 Frontier 4wd KC which will be my escape pod to Mexico in the next year or two. I have no need to crawl rocks or race through the desert, but will definitely be driving some rough roads and exploring in 4wd. What mods should I consider?

Right on brother! I am trying to plan my escape if Obama(one big *** mistake America) doesn't get out of office SOON! I am no help on 4wd stuff though, I am more into racing.

Mexico, firearms and reality

I've lived in here and there - Thailand, Cuba, Vietnam, Venezuela, Kazakhstan. Except for the border towns turned into a war zone by our insane drug policy, Mexico is a damn nice place. If you need a gun to feel safe, your in the wrong place or line of business - consider a change.

Re Frontier mods, how important are skid plates on an 06?

Where exactly in mexico? I want to do some exploring and check out the pyramids.

Get a 2" leveling kit (Front spacer) and that will be fine. Maybe replace your oil pan/front diff factory skid plate with shrockworks for $115

OK, good. I'm in the dark - some kind of lift kit I guess. Easy installation? Any affect on town / highway handling?

Central highlands - San Miguel, Zacatecas, Chapala.
