Click on your name, then Account Settings. Under your location, it will direct you to adjust your Privacy Settings - from there you can pick and choose who sees what on your profile.

So instead of seeing a national flag, maybe we could see what a member would want the rest of us to see. Like “Memphis TN”, or maybe the member would only want the rest of us to see “TN”. In my case, I’d want folks to see “central OR coast”.

That’s what I’d like to see anyway...

Edit: yes, showing the poster’s choice of location under their name .

Oh - are you asking for the location about listing the location under someone's name?
Yep. Just like EVERY OTHER FORUM ON THE PLANET..... again... all these features that mean doo didily and we can't have a simple feature that has been around since day 1 of interweb forumz.

Am I just not seeing it? If a person has it set, their location should be showing under their handle and avatar?
It sure helps with new member introductions and for sale postings.
If a member Inserts their Location in their Settings, the Location will show up when you Hover your Cursor over their Avatar.

Sean, is it because I'm stalking you?

Speaking of settings, I'm not seeing a location option in mine.
Ha!
no.….

I just tend to eye a persons location when they introduce themselves, sale threads or when there is talk of tires or what have you. Location can be important. Looks like I'll just hover..... #creepernocreeping

We are indeed working on a better way to display this information.

Please don't make it mandatory to include actual city/state. Let us be a bit more vague. Not everyone lives in an area that is easy to keep anon in. I live in a town (it's actually a fuggin' "village". Who the hell even has villages anymore??) and I don't wanna advertise it to any tom, hairy & dick. Lemme keep it regional if ya could, eh? And I'm with Sean. What is it that you tech wizards need to invent? I've been able to do this on other forums for about 10 years now.

It seems the new format is all about privacy options (including on the back end for security), so you village wizzards can play hide and seek whenever you want. The Admin said they are working on it, so let's just see when/if it will happen.

See, here are comments I don't understand. EVERY FORUM on the interweb simply displays this under the Username. Not sure what you need to "Work on" with this.
The concern is for privacy of users who do not wish to display it. Those who do, can currently use the hover function, either over the avatar, or over the flag. We're building out other options so that those who don't want to share, don't have a whole in the middle of their information page

We can not force users to share any information they do now wish to, which is why you can even hide your flag in your privacy settings. When filling out location on your profile you can be as specific as you choose, whether it be a specific town, or even a general area such as "The Midwest"
As you all know, sometimes locations aid in assisting with troubleshooting, but it is not something we can force out of you.

Keep an eye on release notes as we make continual updates to this and other site functionality.

Yea.... pretty much every forum on the planet doesn't force anyone to list location. In fact, most allow you to type in your location, so a person could put "your Mom's house" as their location if they chose to show location at all.

It's almost like you are trying to build a forum ignoring the fact that forums have existed for many MANY years.

oh well, I'll just hover...…

When I entered "Central Oregon Coast" and hit enter, I got some hogwash (polite for bullshit) statement in red that said "please enter valid city and/or country". So... Do you even try these suggestions of yours before passing them on to us?? We can NOT enter a general area.

And furthermore, do you even comprehend our suggestions? To me, it seems like you don't.

Yeah, I tried it and it worked. Then I tried it on you and it worked. Central Oregon Coast does sound better than The Village. When you are having difficulty using the forum edit functions, you can always ask (nicely) for assistance - I'm here, as is the Mod Squad, to help out.
