Sweet. Now, do we have gears for the M226 that work beyond 2007?
the only m226's that cant use the gears are the titan's.... only the newer model ones with the the higher spline count. Someone else can confirm the years but i want to say 08+

I know my 08 4 x 2 frontier, m226, the gears fit fine with a companion flange swap.

And this...

Doesn't matter. Ring and Pinion doesn't interface with the axles. the carrier/spider gear dose.
...Are what confused me. I thought the gears were only built for the older axles with the 2 spider gears (the fewer, I thought the newer ones had an increase to keep them from coming apart.) I also thought that the rears in the Titans and the Frontier were the same spline count, just shorter (figured Nissan would do that to save money instead of having two different sets.)

All that plus the page on Rugged Rocks only mentions 2005-2007 for the Frontier M226 rear gears.

http://ruggedrocksoffroad.com/superior-410-m226-d44-variant-rear-ring-pinion-differential-gears-2005-2007-nissan-frontier-p-5593.html

But 4x4parts has this listed...

I apologize for the M205 thread jack.

At The Nissan Truck Ralley There Were 7 Engineers There From Different Dept. And The 2 Things We Hammered Them On (they Wrote Everything Down And Took Lots Of Notes) Was The M226 In The Titan/frontier. Rbstitan Also Brought Up The Fact(spline Count) That We Finally Got Eaton To Build A True Trac For Us, Then Nissan Changed The Spline Count And Killed The Useage On The Later Diff Due To Spline Count Change. But They Said They Got It On The Bolt Pattern(6x4.5) No Wheel Selection And Thats One Of The Only Mod Many Do If They Even Deviate From Stock. On The Diffs We Told Them Pick Something That You Dont Have To Change That Theres Plenty Of Aftermarket Support For D44/60 Etc... Yes We May Only Be 1%er's But We Speak Loudly And Keep.recommend Nissans. I Expressed That Many People I Read About And Know Have Switch To A More Mod Friendly Brands, That Trying To Always Swim Upstream...and Yes Many Of The Engineers Are Enthusiasts Too. Matter Of Fact We Caught All Them Out Wheeling The Trails With Us In The Rental Titan And Xterra They Had To Drive :)

gears have nothing to do with spline count as mustard said , only lockers , there is a difference on the pinion spline count but that only affects the pinion flange( the piece the driveshaft bolts to )

I don't know if this helps but what you are changing is the Ring and Pinion. The axles slide in to the side gears. So your axle spline count only effects the side gears.

this what the spline of your axles look like.

this isn't a m226 but it might help see what it all looks liek together

OK, so with the right flange they're should be no issues. Thank you very much guys! Time to find a M205 and prepare for next Summer.
