its not monetarily advantageous due to the price of LPG the last few decades, it was very popular in the 60's-70's when propane was 15-19 cents a gallon.

 

As neat of an idea running LP is, there is no real need to. Also you have to take into consideration of where the LP Tank is going to be mounted for safety purposes.

What advantage do you have for running LP over Gasoline? You do have a cleaner exhaust, but that is best for Indoor use. You might get lucky to have a lower cost of fuel over time as well, but for the cost of the kit not counting installation, it's going to take a while to recover from it

Just things to think about.

 

It's not worth it. Five years ago, LPG was $0.70 cheaper than regular gas in my neck of the woods. Now, LPG is almost the same price as regular gas. You also have to factor in that the kit is $1700 + labor/tax. You'll never recoup the initial cost.

 

What we need is that twin turbo navara diesel at around 40-ish mpg without any added emissions crap

 

Has anyone thought about putting a fuel cell generator on your Nissan frontier.. then you could use LPG as the fuel source with the added benefit of no emissions and an electric drivetrain.... I've been waiting for this for about 40 years..

Back in the late 90's early 2000's many taxi companies in the Toronto 🇨🇦 area converted their cars into LPG. There is a side effect to this as it dries out the engine's valve seals prematurely. Each time you would see one of these cabs fire up its engine, you'd see a puff of blue smoke. Once they started driving away, the smoke subsided. As many have stated, LPG is nearly the same price as regular gas right now, so I can't see this being a worthwhile modification.
