I bought an 07 LE with 63,000 miles on it two weeks ago and after buying I noticed a persistant whine and with the help of this forum I figured out it was the timing tensioner problem. The certified nissan mechanic said there was no way that sound was the timing chain, but after days of being a pest they fixed it ! So the truck runs like a well oiled machine now. Quiet and smooth but I noticed a 1.5 mpg drop under the same conditions on the same road. Is this due to the tightness of all the new parts ? Should I get a little of it back after a breakin period?

Thanks for all the help,
David

Possibly because the battery was disconnected for many hours the computer reset itself and now needs to re-learn your driving style. I'm sure the truck is fine. I'd like to know why the mechanic said it wasn't the chain but after the repair the sound went away? How can he be trusted to diagnose cars?
