Looking to replace just your muffler? (Mainly for sound purposes)

Go with Flowmaster!
Just got a Flowmaster 40 Series DeltaFlow installed on my 05 4.0L earlier today and it sounds amazing.
First time I started it up, it gurgled to an idle. I was still nervous about how it'd sound when I pushed the gas, and it sounded great! And started sounding even better after driving for a while, and should sound even better after a few weeks when it breaks in.

Doesn't sound buzzy or ricey at ALL, very throaty/rumbly.
The rumble kicks in when accelerating, but is not overpowering/too loud at all when you're really pushing on the gas, which is just want I wanted.
Yeah, there's some cab drone, but I love the sound of it.
You won't be dissapointed if you decide to go with a 40 Series DeltaFlow - it's not too loud, not too quiet at all.
Sounds good in the cab and awesome outside of it (I got my friend to drive while I was outside.)

I'll try to have some sound clips up soon, but remember it's not even broken in yet.
Nothing describes the smile I get when I give the engine a little rev and when it's going back down it gurgless like a sexy beast :)

sick man! I'm glad you like it. It will break in a little bit after a few weeks.

:D thanks for your input earlier, helped me with my decision. also I, for now, have a high flow k&n filter and i can feel and hear the air flow improvements with the flowmaster
I did the same mod to my 05 NISMO KC 91,000 miles ago, I love it
How much did it run? I was checking out the Doug Thorley exhaust for $350 shipped and it sounded good.

Cost me around $150, I just got the flowmaster muffler, but it was worth it sound wise, and I can tell it has some better air flow with my CAI.. sounds not too loud at all but still very noticable rumbles and sputters, sounds exactly like what I wanted. When my exhaust guy was giving me options he told me about doing a single in dual out system and said that'd cost around $340 but I think he was overpricing it..
340 is a good price for a si do. I have that set up with a flowmaster 40 and K&N cai and it sounds great. i love it. had it done with 300 miles on the truck. about to put on the dt long tube headers and go with two flowmaster 40s and hi flow cats with true duals. flowmasters are great.

very nice :goodjob:
I decided I want to replace just muffler only and the MF 40 is what i want to go with. Weather is sucky outside so i don't want to crawl under to get measurements. What are the in and out measurements on the muffler? Plan on just using the stock pipe.

You mean Flow Master 40?
I have heard from some people that the 40 series doesn't give them quite the sound they wanted, and I've seen more people be pleased with the 40 Series Delta Flow. But it's up to you.

Our stock pipes are 2.25" in and out, when I ordered my muffler I went with offset IN and center OUT, fit like a charm.
Can you get a vid/sound clip? I wouldn't mind getting a little bit more growl out of the truck.

Sure, I've been meaning to get one but the weather here in Virginia hasn't been that great with the snow and stuff, but I'll try to get one tomorrow or the next day.
My bad. Yes I meant Flowmaster 40 and I should have mentioned Delta flow. Essentially the very set up you r running here. Thus the post. Thanks for the assist man.

No problem - if you have to give your muffler guys a part number (they didnt have any Delta Flows in stock), here's the one I got installed (took them less than 1hr): 40 Series Delta Flow 2.25IN(O)/OUT(C) [942441] - $99.03 : Flowmaster Inc. Exhaust Shop, Love That Sound!

Part # is 942441
Ran me $155 for part + install
Here's a clip..

Doesn't fully do it justice.. sounds a lot deeper/throatier in person and doesn't have that wierd rasp like it does in the video..
I took it with a crappy camera haha, & also not as loud as the video makes it seem, maybe I held put it too close to the exhaust lol
