Hey everybody I'm new to the site. I have a 05 frontier 4x4 and i purchased a 2.5 in leveling kit from Rough Country. I basically got everything installed except the very last step, connecting the upper control arm, it seems like the strut spring needs to be compressed or something. Even with pushing the UCA down to where it is touching the coil bucket there is still not enough room to connect the UCA ball joint. Please help!! If this thread has been discussed already I apologize I did search threw the site for a similar problem. Thanks

Try putting the jack under the Lower Control Arm and lift it up to put some stress on the coilover to compress it a bit. I do remember trying to reconnect the ball joint to the upper arm being a pain.

That was one of the first things I did but my jack lifted the truck off of the jack stands and the spring did not compress at all. Is it possible that the strut inside of the spring is seized up?

If it's the same one that was in the truck I doubt it would be stuck. I actually had to jack it up as far as my jack would go and still had a hard time getting it close enough to thread the nut. Once I jacked it all the way up, I used a long pry bar to pull the UCA all the way down, not easy when your alone but it can be done.

I just read your last post again, did you jack both sides together or one side first and then the other. To get the full weight of the truck on one coilover, you have to jack only one side at a time as high as you can and it should work.

it will pick it up off the jack stands just keep going up it will move also i dont have a swaybar anymore but make sure the sway bar isnt stopping it from going up for some reason if it is take it loose might help maybe??? or have all your friends sit on the hood :) but it looks like you almost have it if you can get the uca down to the coil bucket just put some back into it and jack the uca from underneath where the swaybar connects cause if you put the jack under the lower balljoint it might not let the spindle move enough to line up with the uca

TM968 - If you figure it out let us know. I have the same leveling kit sitting in my garage and will be installing it in the next few weeks. I am glad this post surfaced because I would not have known what to do if I had the same problem.

I love this site!!!

Good point, actually disconnecting the swaybar was part of the directions with my kit and I figured you had that done. I hope that works out for you and solves the problem.

Let us know.

Something I did that made my install easier was using ratchet straps. I put a strap between the upper control arm and the lower control arm. Then made sure everything was lined up and just cranked it down. It seated the ball joint and made it much easier.

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago with my ADF kit... I'm assuming you did both spacers at the same time right? thats what i did thinking it would work but it didn't. your gunna want to put one side back to stock with the wheel on. then you should be able to jack up the side with the spacer installed by putting a jack under the lower control arm and get plenty to re-install everything. Let me know how you make out!

Thanks everybody for all the replys. I did finally get the strut to compress. I took it back out and took it to a local nissan dealership and they did me a favor and compressed the spring and said it was fine I took it back home and installed it and it then compressed with no problems. Originally I posted that the pass side was doing the same thing, that was incorrect it did compress which made me want to pull my hair out even more. I have no idea what the problem was. Should I go ahead and get it aligned it seems to roll down the road as straight as it did before I installed the lev kit?

it would be a good idea because a alignment is alot cheeper than a new set of tires if anything is off mine rolled good but when i took it in and got it aligned the toe was way off and they said it would have eaten tires up bad after my last shock install

When you make any change to the geometry of the suspension, you'll need to realign. Before the lift, your tires sit like this l---l after like this \---/ If you look from the front, you'll be able to see it.
