I'm thinking of making my tail light to LED. I have two looks, which is better (or best)?

In this type, from top down, all the odd lines of LEDs are driving light. Even lines of LEDs are brake light. Or I can make them all lit up dim as driving light, and brighter as brake light.

In this type, from left to right, the first 2 lines on left are driving light. The remaining lines of LEDs are brake light. Or I can make them all lit up dim as driving light, and brighter as brake light.

What do you y'all think, guys?

^^ Agreed, 1st one. The 2nd one looks like a Cadillac Esclade or something.

Either option looks great. Will you be using both red and amber LED's? And would you be entertaining a retrofit package like you do for headlights?

Just wondering........

All RED. Even the signal will be RED as well.

Retrofit package? I don't know, I got to finish mine first. :)

I thought about it, but I wanted to make my own. :)

i say #2, i like the caddy look. clean lines. you should really look into doing this for an xterra too!
ha..ha.. so you can have it done on your Xterra as well? I'll put a write-up once I have it done (if I get it done).

ok, I think I have made my decision on how it's look like. I come up with this:

The driving light is the odd lines from top down. Even lines will be brake.

This is how it's like when it's behind the lense. This is driving light.

And this is how it is when brake is applied. It looks brighter in person.

I went ahead and did the signal as well:

I cut the LEDs to be at this length:

The back of the driving/brake part:

And signal part:

More to come...

Dam that looks like a lot. But it looks Nice! Are you using a resin spacer or the LED straight to the board? Also what MM and MCD Rating. that looks really good. You should try to take some dark pictures if possible from across the room to see how visible they are.

Reverse light? I guess they stay stock for now. I don't know why.

About the arrow for the turn-signal light? I had it layed out last night, but it leaves a lot of empty space on the circuit board. And the lense is clear so you can very easily see it. So, I changed to a square.
