I just found out my 2004 Frontier has developed a leak in the head gasket. It has 144,000 miles on it, and I bought it for 6100 last April. Any of you had a similar situation, and is it worth spending the $2,000 to fix it? My other options I'm thinking is just putting some Bar's Leak into it and driving it until it blows, or selling it/trading it in for basically nothing. Any advice?

It's impossible to say whether it's worth investing $2000 into a vehicle when we know nothing about the condition of the rest of the vehicle. We also don't know anything about the vehicle itself, i.e. engine, trans, drivetrain, trim model... You could also try calling around for a better price on the repair. I'm not a big fan of the Bar's Leak option, personally, but again, I don't have much info to work on in regards to the vehicle, itself.

I fixed it by putting in a bottle of "cooling system conditioner" that I got from a Subaru dealership. You can usually just ask for it at the parts counter, comes in a small blue bottle.
Apparently Subaru has a problem with small head gasket leaks and their sealer seems to work on a Nissan engine too, in my admittedly limited experience.
Anyway, I put a new bottle in each time I replace the coolant. I have not seen any head gasket leaks since I started using the conditioner.
