Hey dudlers, my frontier's leaf springs are more flat then curved, just looking at it you can see the back end sags a little more then it should. I was just gunna get some bigger shackles to compensate for it, but down the road i eventually wanna pull a boat and wouldnt mind it being able to hold more of a load. Wondering what would be my best bet to just replace them or to aal?

The problem is they are already wiped out, adding AAL will just be a bandage, weather its a bandage youwant to deal with is up to you of corse but.. You can always get a factory replacement, expensive (dealer)back to sqaure one, you can order a set from some place like deaver spring or alcan, they will both build you a pair that have more leafs and hold up a little bit better and maybe even ride a little nicer.

Unless you are wanting to lift it I would just replace them with standard ones. The AAL adds 3 inches of lift, which would make the back sit a lot higher than the front unless you do a T car crank or get UCA's.

I added gabriel coil over shocks to the back of my gen 1 KC.
This put my truck back at about stock ride height, but it killed the ride. You need a couple hundred pounds in the bed to get a decent ride.
If you haul or tow regularly, it rides ok. Empty, its rough and under damped.

When snapped my drivers side pack I just had a local shop make up a new pack. They did both sides and added a leaf for under $500 Canadian (I live in BC) it sat higher in the back but it didnt make the ride any stiffer. A quick T-Bar crank and she leveled right out. Sat alot prouder on the road too. Most trailer shops have the ability to make or repair leaf packs.

Agree

I agree with Smiler. I just had a local shop (Keystone Spring / Suspension King add a leaf to the standard pack for me. Had them set the arch. for a 2" lift. Less than. $500 including u-bolts and everything. IMO the stock springs were not heavy enough to support the cc long bed in the first place. Do not add lift shackles to a worn out set of springs. This'll only make your problem worse7m

Just like everyone eles said have a new pack made or get a stock replacment. Try Jcwhitney.com and for towing i had a air ride system in the back of my truck and its awesome for towing, hook up the trailer, throw some air in the bags and your good. brings the truck to stock height when towing. Less stress on the leafs puts most of the load on the air bags, and there easy to install.
