The link for the knock sensor harness is the wrong part. I just ordered the wrong part and the sign at Nissan says no returns on electrical parts. Did I just waist $60 plus dollars by using this forum? Jeez I came here to save money not burn it. The link does not work now so maybe a mod already knows. Dang what gives?

I don't see a link for the sensor. Only for the wire harness. Which you have now. Now all you need is the 1999 Nissan Maxima sensor from RockAuto.com.

Looks like Nissan updated this harness. So if you have issues with fitment that might be why.

Where did you buy your sensor? What is the part number for it?

Your pictures are not clear as to what part of the KS plug does not fit on the sensor. They are both square shaped. Are there tabs where there shouldn't be? Are the tabs reversed?

Its cheaper than the VG33 sensor and it fits for this application.

The plastic is a completely different shape no matter how it is rotated. I couldn't hold the two parts and the camera at the same.

Still waiting for that part number for the knock sensor before I can provide any sound advice.

To me it looks like you have the wrong knock sensor and correct harness. The knock sensor you have looks like our stock frontier knock sensor.

The knock sensor should look like the ones linked here:

You got the wrong knock sensor. That sensor looks just like the stock 2000 frontier sensor.

The whole point of the harness is, it fits the maxima sensor.

Well that's a relief. I can return the sensor. I'm not sure if the warranty will be valid if its on the wrong vehicle though.

You are installing it on a different vehicle in a non stock location, with a hacked wire harness... Warranty should be the last thing on your mind lol.
Plus, its a $30 sensor...

I'm sorry about the the misundering. I've been mixing YouTube tutorials and forum info. I appreciate all the info here. I wouldn't be able to do any of this without step by step direction.

The reason for using the 95-99 knock sensor subharness is that it serves as a pigtail connector to do the sensor relocation, as pigtail connectors were otherwise not available for the knock sensor at the time (they may or may not be now...I haven't checked). The knock sensor on the VG engines, unlike the A32 Maxima VQ35DE, did not have a subharness, rather it connected directly to the EGI harness.
