Has anybody tried to do a keyless entry mod to their XE frontier? I took off the door panels the other day to put in my components and discover that i can't install the door acuators for power door locks because they have these plastic tubes that surround a wire that locks/unlocks the doors. Anybody have any suggestions on how I can perform this mod? Any info is appreciated. :lol:

Sorry, forgot to mention it is an 05 KC XE

I guess this means it is not possible to get keyless entry with an XE KC then...*sigh*

I went to the local nissan dealership today to ask if it is possible to have them put in power door locks and keyless entry. They told me that if I have manual windows as adpose to power windows, it is not possible to get power door locks, hence, no keyless entry. They said my only option was to trade in my current KC and get one with power windows and locks inorder to have keyless entry.

Take your truck to a reputable auto security shop. I dont think it is impossible, have seen it done before!

i finally found it!! The locking mechanism that is in our 05 frontier is called cable system and this site has a product for it and instructions!!

Personally, I won't fork out $80 for everything I have except for the clips provided to secure the cable wire, i can just drill two holes and secure the cable with zipties. Also, kinda scared to strip the wiring from the cable....... :roll:

here sumptin u guys might find interesting... anyone who has keyless entry's this is for u.... i recently found out that if u have keyless entry n u lock ur keys in the car and sum one has a spare key call em on ur cell phone and stand 1 foot or less by ur car and have them push the button to ur lock by the phone the frequency will travle through the phone and unlock ur doors... of course u need to have reception but it works...

I've installed an aftermarket power door lock kit before on another car, and it
worked surprisingly well. Very easy to install as well. Some kits also include
keyless remote fobs.

I had an 05' SE KC and it had no power locks. I took it to a car stereo shop in my area and they told me I had cable sytem on my locks but that they would be able to put power locks but it would be a little harder but it can be done and they did do it.

It's is possible as we have established... my tint shop quoted me for 75 per door... i think i can do it by myself... i just need a dependable product.

I bought a door kit off ebay and used it in my past car for well over 2 years without any problems until I sold the car.
True the kits on ebay may look questionable but it did work fine, at least for me. And install is super easy. No reason
you should pay a shop to do it.

thanks... i really want to do it but i want the kit with the FOB remote thing and a unlock lock switch i can mount on the door... kinda like customizing it. lol.

Not sure how set you are on having a switch. With these kits, when you unlock/lock the door manually pushing the little lever
on the door, this triggers the brain to automatically lock or unlock all the doors. So in a way you have a switch - the door lock
on the door that controls all the doors.
