Can any one tell me the part # on the back of their key fob for a 2005 or 2006 Frontier? I called Nissan sales and they gave me a part # but it doesnt seem to be the same as noted on their nissan help web site. Nissan help web site says 2001-to current is the same fob. There are many key fobs on Ebay for $15.00 for 2000-2004 Frontiers. Just checking to see if one of these will work.

Thanks everyone. I purchased a Fob off Ebay for a 2004 Frontier for $5.00. Different part # but I will give it a try. I will let everyone know if it works. Hopefully it will save me $100.00.

Thats a great find!! I would like to have a spare fob just in case I lose one but I didn't want to pay $100-150 to get one of the key fobs from the dealer. Thanks for being the guniea pig!!

I know that the early 05 SEs with the power package didn't include key fobs but all you had to do was buy one and have it programmed, the keyless entry was already included in power package. My question is, my buddy has an 03 XE crew cab with power windows/door locks but no key fobs... is he in the same boat? Can he just buy a key fob and be good to go, or do the Frontiers in that year actually have to be equipped with keyless entry? And once you get a key fob is that something they do at the dealer?

This raises a question in my mind... If the 04 Frontier Fob will work, will any Nissan Fob work? And, if I got a Fob from say an Altima, could the trunk release button be used with the auto-locking tail gate mod discussed in the other thread?

Not to sound like a moron, but what is a key fob?
That's the black object that comes with the key. It has 3 buttons on it, 1 for locking the doors,1 for unlocking the doors and the 3rd one is the panic button. Sets off the horn like an alarm.

Ah...I see. I"ve never heard it called a fob before. Thanks :D

I think most any Nissan fob will work. I programmed my '05 Frontier to work with the fob for my wife's '03 Maxima. It's nice to be able to carry 1 fob for both cars - I don't like to carry around a giant wad of stuff with my keys.

Anyway, I can post the programming instructions if someone would like to see them. They are fairly easy to follow.

Here you go bluegrass:

ID CODE ENTRY PRODCEDURE
Step 1) Sit in drivers seat, close all doors.
Step 2) Insert key into and remove it from ignition key cylinder more than six times within 10 seconds.
(Hazard warning lamps will then flash twice).
NOTE:
Withdraw key completely from ignition key cylinder each time.
If procedure is performed too fast, system will not enter registration mode.
Step 3) Insert key into ignition key cylinder and turn to ACC position.
Step 4) Push any button on remote controller once. (Hazard warning lamps will then flash twice).
At this time, the oldest ID code is erased and the new ID code is entered.
Step 5) Do you want to enter any additional remote controller ID codes?
A maximum of four ID codes may be entered. If more then four ID codes are entered,
the oldest ID code will be erased.
If you do not want to enter any additional remote controller ID codes, go to Step 9).
Step 6) ADDITIONAL ID CODE ENTRY
Lock all doors with LH (driver side) lock/unlock switch
(in main power window and door lock/unlock switch).
Step 7) Push any button twice on remote controller once, (Hazard warning lamps will then flash twice).
At this time, the oldest ID code is erased and the new ID code is entered.
Step 8) Do you want to enter any additional remote controller ID codes?
If so, unlock doors then repeat Step 6) and Step 7).
Step 9) When complete, open door, and check operation of remote.
