I'm getting a system for my truck for Christmas, it's my first one ever and I have no idea what's good or bad or what sounds good in my truck. I have an XE with the premium sound system right now and I was thinking of getting this package from Crutchfield since it's only $100 with everything to do it.

What should I do for a second set of speakers and are they worth having in the KC? Or should i reuse a set of the stock ones?

Is it worth replacing the tweeters?

Should I wire the speakers to an amp? If so what how much power?

I've been looking at having a sub, something like this FUSION Electronics – Car and Marine Audio. I have a JL 12w0-8 that i was given, but i'm guessing it's not even worth using after buying a box and amp.

lets start with a few questions
1. how much are you wanting/willing to spend?
2. how good do you want it to sound?

I want it to sound good. Clean and clear. I'm not into the whole make your windows blow out that most of the people at my school have.
And I'm willing to spend about $300 total.

Just get a nice headunit, some new components, and an amp to power them. For your price range that would be the best thing you could do. The later when money allows you can add subs and an amp and whatever else you would want.

dude going to be honest its going to been really really hard to get a full amped system with a sub for $300,, it's going to be at least $1000 if you install it your self... if you don't get crappy components.. you mite get by with something cheap but,, i had at least $5,000 in my Xterra and it sounded Awesome.. trust me spend the money and you will not be disappointed...

ya would work... i just had a very bad expriance with profile amps.. i had a 80X4 for my front speakers..( i had dual woofers in the door) i had it cranked one day not max vol. but close.. it cut out and smoke started coming from underneath my passenger side fount seat!!! replaced it with a JL hd600 and zero problems for a year.. i traded in my xterra and plan to use that amp in my frontier.. you get what u pay for i guess!?!?

ok ive never personally used a profile amp so i wont comment on its reliability. i have friends that say they are fine for cheap amps.

so spend 5 bucks more and get this. i put one in a friends boat and we crank the system up for hours at a time during the summer with no problems at all.

Mb quart makes awesome stuff never tried their amps... had a pair of Mb in my first truck (99 frontier) very loud and clear with an Rockford amp.. but they have to be good. in my option you don't need after market rears but.. i never cheap out on things.. if you are not a true audiophile you will not tell the difference... you will be good with a nice set of 6-1/2 components amped at least 80watts and 2-10" subs in a supercrew sound box... not sure if the stuff from woofersetc.com comes with install hardware.. probably not.. you cant go wrong with crutchfield.. you never know what you are going to get with some of these " discount" online stores.. my buddy bought some alpine type-r's from woofersetc.com and they came in a plastic bag and the speakers were all ready blown... tried to call someone there... no luck.... just beware some stuff my be good but you never know.. crutchfield had a deal were buy one set of polk speakers or a sub and get 50%off of the second set check them out to find some deals...
