Yes you heard right lol. I am putting a 8" W7 in my 09 cc. I have a JL audio W1 10" in a supercrew sound box under the seat now. I had it only 2 months but i need to go bigger lol. Im selling the 10 and the box, So if you live in the pittsburgh area make me an offer. I also need ideas on my new sub box. It has to be under the back seat. I was thinking of having the sub side ways in a chambered box?

I have to disagree!!! All JL subs even the W7 were built for SQ first then SPL. This will be the second W7 that I have owned. They are the best SQ subs I have heard. And they are not made for SPL. If I wanted SPL I would have took the back seat out and put 2 RE audio XXX 18's back there. (4,000 Watts RMS) by the way. The W7 8" is only recomended at 500 Watts max. Dont judge untill you own one.

A JL W7 8" Is the best 8" sub on the market. For sound quality. The reason I got a W7 is that the W7 Can Handle the power im putting to it. And sound clean at the same time. there is no such thing as a jl sub that has poor SQL. Digital designs makes a nice 8" also. But i think the W7 is cleaner

Reviews of W7 Subwoofer Drivers:
“Simply put, the JL Audio 8W7 is the best damn 8-inch subwoofer ever made.”

“...if you're looking for big audiophile sound in a package that requires a small amount of power and space, the JL Audio 8W7 isn't a good choice, it's the only choice.”

You are correct is is too tall to putt under the seat as I found out. lol. My installer-Box designer. It is gonna be an extended console, With a chamber under the seat for more air space. There will be plexiglass windows on the sides to show off the Magnet and basket of the sub as well as LED lights. It will be up side down in the console. It was the best we could come up with without loosing any back seat space. my amp is mounted under the passenger seat. its gonna be way louder and cleaner then my W1 10", Although the W1 does sound good.

The XXX, it is a nice sub, but the MT is there main SPL sub. Even on the RE site it states "Designed for a single sonic goal: “To be the ultimate in SPL."
The MT SERIES is built for brutality."

Also saying the W7 is the best 8" is just your opinion. My opinion, as well as most people who know about audio, is that an rl-i 8" will beat a W7 in everyway possible.

All RE subs are built for brutality!!! I had 3 RE SR 10's in my scion. And The rl-i8 is a SPL sub and as good for sql as the W7.

Thanks Klee, at least your not a hater lol!!!

its okay, ive already gotten my mental stereotype of you. every time i look at user reviews for the W7, i see these idiots claiming they blew out the back window of their escalade with a pair of 12s and 2000w (which could happen if the cone was hitting the window). they love to tell people about how bad their W7 is. All in all, they paid for the W7's fame and got a moderately decent woofer.

now, im not hating on you. i simply suggested something better. But now that i realize your goals are based around looks and status, so my suggestions for a better sounding woofer were completely out of line. for this i apologize, and again, best of luck with your setup.

good luck with your set up, I've been into this a long time as well the JL is good, i love theirs stuff (running XRs in my doors) but I prefer the sound of the W6 over the W7 for my taste. The 6 is a tighter sound to my ears

i will be interested in how you mount this thing, i looked at getting a W7 when my first sub got stolen. i've been happy with my polk momo 8" that i replaced it with. i can't speak for myself as to how either of the subs mentioned above (w6's and w8's) sound but i trust scott and drew's judgement of them and would take their advice if i was in your position... but it is your truck so go big and enjoy it!
