Well I got my Doug Thorley headers today. Cant wait to get these things on. Has anyone installed these themselves, if so how long did it take you? The directions state you have to raise the engine for the right side. Any advice would be great. I will also be searching this site, but the search engine sucks the sweat off a dead mans balls. thanks

Hey. I just installed a pair of the Thorley Long tubes. Install is a bit of a pain. First suggestion is to soak all bolts with penetrating fluid (something better than WD40) for a few days befor install. Most passenger side manifold nuts can be reached from passenger wheel well with about 2feet of extensions, just remove inner fender liner. And NO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO lift motor on passenger side, as long as you don't want to ever re-use the stock manifold heat shield (this is the only reason why suggested to lift motor). Drivers side is the easier side for sure, everything on this side is easily accessible with a few extensions. You should also loosen the exhaust hanger that is just after the muffler, it makes getting the cats and headers out a little easier. Other than that it is a pretty straight forward install. Befor putting headers back on, make sure where the headers bolt to the motor is clean, and your gaskets as well. I was told we can re-use our exhaust gasket, but after having installed and heard mine, I think it would be worth the $25 some-odd-dollars for new ones and piece of mind. That's about all I can think of, If you have any more questions I'd be happy to help any way I can.
