My passenger side jump seat will not stay up. Apparently the added weight of the box on it's bottom makes it fall down. I feel certain I'm not the only one with this problem since Nissan has always had a problem with this sort of thing. The sun visors on my Murano are a perfect example. They just haven't figured out a way to make these types of things correctly or in a way they hold up to use.

Is there any way to tighten up the stops on the hinges that hold the jump seat up? The drivers side is fine, nice and tight but, it also doesn't have the added weight of the plastic box under it.

Thanks, Larry:)

Easy fix. Remove the plastic hinge covers at the bottom. Remove the hinge bolt on each side( they are torx bits). Once removed, pull the seat bootom out. There is a plastic retaining prong that is supposed to hold the seat up, but it gets weak. Get two garden hose washers. Put one on each side on the outter part of the hinges, then reassemble. I did mine 2 years ago and no problems since.

+1^ The washer trick works. No, Nissan will not fix it under warranty, extended or otherwise.

Any details on how to remove it then? Mine will be down nearly all the time since the jump seats are holding my sub box to some degee.

yes, they will and several on here had it fixed by the dealer. why would they not fix it when they took the time to put out the TSB for it?
Just because something falls under a TSB, does not mean its a free or a warranty repair. TSB's simply tell a tech, when this happens, here's what you do to fix it from happening again. TSB's are put out by the manufacturers when an issue cannot be resolved using the service manual. It is an updated repair procedure. Just because one dealer here or in bumbutt egypt repairs it free, does not mean all dealers will fix it free.

do you really have any clue what your talking about?

what is a TSB said:
And, of course, the best thing about finding a TSB that seems to cover a persistent problem in your vehicle is that dealerships will make the repair for free, provided that

* Your vehicle is under warranty;

* Your service advisor and/or technicians are able to confirm that the problem exists.

More so than what you think. Your printed statement is just a generalization. For all we know, you could have made it up. Granted in a perfect world all manufacturers and dealers would adhere to those principles, but many don't. I highly doubt that statement came from Nissan, as I fail to see a corporate logo on it. Look at other threads where regardless of the problem, some dealers do a courtesy fix, where others may charge. Are all dealerships the same?...NO! FACT, I had the same issue, they would not fix it. Not just at one dealership, but two. I figured it out and fixed it myself.

if the dealership wouldnt fix it then you should have either gone to another Nissan dealer or contacted Nissan USA and filed a complaint. TSB's are covered under your 3y/36k mile warranty or your extended warranty IF you purchased one. they would have fixed it IF they could duplicate it. thats the big thing. they dont just replace parts on your word. kinda strange that i had my idler pulley replaced not once but TWICE because of the TSB.

I don't know what to tell you Mylt, except I'm happy things worked out for you. It's nice to hear some people get taken care of. In my case it didn't happen in this instance, I argued, I complained but it didn't matter. It was no big deal, I took the seat apart, went to ACE Hardware, spent .27 on two washers, and fixed it myself. It was just that they acted like such A--holes about it. Such a cheap way for a multi billion dollar corporation to act. There were other things they fixed under warranty, but they wouldn't fix a jump seat bottom from flopping down, when it should stay up. Go figure.

Hmmm, the garden hose fix looks like a viable option to me. My used 05 is well out of warranty, extended or otherwise. I know how TSB's work....I had a Ford before....If it's not under warranty the TSB is useless.

Going to try the hose washer trick. Thanks guys from a Frontier nubee. I do love this truck and this forum!
