iPod Adapter

I have the iPod adapter in my 07. I recently got a new iPod Touch and plugged it in and got a message about it not able to charge the Touch. I later read that they changed the adapter (Apple did) for the newer iPods. Does anyone know if there is an updated adapter for our trucks? Or is there some sort of adapter? Kinda sucks cuz I don't want to have to buy a new adapter. My old iPod is acting up and skipping a lot.
