instrument panel question

I have a 07 KC SE 6M 4x. As it is an SE, it is not equipped with a trip computer ( DTE, MPG ).
Or does it?? The cluster does have the characters in the odometer pod.
So I ask; is there any difference in the actual cluster between an auto or manual?
More important, where does the trip computer signal come from? Is there such a way I can modify my SE to have this LE option function even though my truck is a stick?
Your thoughts are appreciated.

The clusters displays are the same, but the wiring is all different in the connection between auto/ manual. You might be able to use a 6speed nismo cluster. The nismo will have the locker light on its board, so that may stay illuminated all the time sice there will be no connection to it. The cluster is about 380 bucks, and nissan charges 55 to program the mileage into it
I wonder where the mileage information is being processed. In the ECU??

I imagine the ecu processes it, but its stored in the cluster
What happens if the cluster mileage is never set by the dealer? Will it still start from zero?

It actually starts as all dashes. They also will not sell one to a walkin customer without seeing the mileage first. Too easy to cheat a lease or warranty.
I've a friend that carefully removed some wire from the cluster and added a on/off switch. he travels a lot, when he turns it off the entire cluster dies, all gauges go down to zero like when the truck is off. he can drive for hrs and not register any milage.

Thats lovely... Nothing like screwing people!
why couldnt it be activated.. it has for me on another car..

i had a 2007 mazda3 that didnt have the trip computer activated, and after searching thru forums, i found a guy who had worked at mazda. a few magical presses of radio buttons and ignition turns later, and voila! i had the trip computer.. i really hope that someone will find this to be true here also..
