In my never ending quest on experimenting and installing stupid crap on my truck, I installed a air compressor oil separator on the PCV hose today. Incredibly easy to do and cost less than $20.
Don't know how well it works yet because the vacuum is high enough to overcome the drain valve, so I sealed it with RTV. I also removed the small plastic filter.

Here is another option I found on a Miata board. They are just using in line fuel filters.

Why? Multiple reasons:

1. I don't like oil pooling in the intake.
2. Oil mist coats the inside of the plenum. Over the years, the dirt that gets past the air filter mixes and will form a sludge that bakes on the interior of the plenum.
3. To see what it would do.
4. Oil mist may increase the chance for misfire.
5. If I don't experiment, I don't learn.
6. If it fails, it takes less than 5 minutes to revert.

Have a Umm... Never experienced that... How many years does that take to develop? My intake plenum is perfectly clean inside.

20k miles and Squeaky clean. Don't see any trouble anytime soon. In a couple years when they come out with a Diesel TITAN, Will trade for one of those.

A few feet of 3/8 fuel hose, 1 Oil separator from Harbor Freight and 2 brass 3/8 fittings is all you need.

Squeaky clean? Remove your upper intake plenum and tell us how much oil is in the space between the upper and lower.
It will only accumulate after the PCV vacuum fitting on the plenum.
Wife's 03 Spec-V, my 89 Jeep and 94 Skyline all had it.

Checked my plugs... IMS really do much? I have seen the Dyno chart the guy has on here... But I really dunno if I believe that. Uncle has a 468 in his Chevelle and a TBS wont do that much. Like 20 HP maybe.

Maybe you have a bad PCV valve.

I haven't worked on the 4.0 in these trucks yet...do you really have to take off the intake manifold to get to the plugs? What a PITA!

On topic though, PCV seperator is a good idea. In fact on my old car I just had it disconnected and ran it to a catch can. This was a turbocharged 400hp car so it probably won't be as bad on a naturally aspirated truck, but the principle still applies.

20 HP is a lot!

Taking off the manifold does make plugs easier to install, so I hear.
Yeah, a 20 horse bump is nothing to complain about.
After a 10 mile drive, there is a tickle of fluid on the inside of the bowl. I assume its condensation. I will drive about an 80 mile trip this afternoon to pick up my anti-sway bar and traction springs. I'll check it again after that.

Yea, 20 HP on a 7.6 liter engine kicking out 650 HP.

Our trucks are NOT going to see that, being 4 liter and 265 HP

My last car was a 2.0 liter and it put down 365hp at the wheels, which is around 400 at the crank. 20hp is a good improvement no matter what the HP level you are making, especially if you can get 20 hp by doing something so simple. In reality though, I think 20hp was just a figure that came from nowhere.

Yea, with forced induction. In reality your 2 liter also produced about 135 lb-ft of torque

Bet you believe K&N air filters give your 2 liter 20 HP!

Is your makeshift catch can catching anything?

Not sure where your attitude is coming from, you have been negative in this entire thread. If you don't think the PCV seperator is a worthwhile mod, don't post in this thread. The fact is that the PCV relieves crank case pressure (guess where your oil is) and it relieves the pressure by emptying back into the intake manifold (for emissions reasons among others). Your manifold may very well be clean to the eye, but there is an oil film on it for sure. Your truck is also very new so the rings are probably seated very well. Give it a few years for the rings to wear and for dirt to make into your intake and you'll see how gross it can get.

As far as the torque level on my 2.0 goes..well I'll let you be the judge.
