This was posted on RDC and Dezertrangers thought i would share it with you all. This was one of the nicest Class 1 cars I have ever seen, tons of power. They broke a car speed record eairler that day of 133mph, they think they rolled at about 115mph. ***warning*** violient crash, makes my chest hurt to watch.

They are both ok and alive

i'm trying to see exactly what went wrong, looks like it was too steep of a landing and the nose dug in? maybe landed at an angle too.

Thats a pretty gnarly crash. Definitely looks like too steep of a landing. That's what harnesses, helmets, and a well designed cage are made for though. They're lucky they can basically walk away from that.

This is from the RDC post from Josh daniels, explains all what happened.

This is where it gets interesting. We are jamming down the graded road at about 115mph. No big deal, the road is really smooth and straight with only a few slight rollers. I see a big roller coming up and think I will brake into it, using not only the cars brakes, but also the roller to slow us up making it quicker on time and easier on the car.
Just as we approach the spot where I decided to brake, I see it!!! The huge drop in the road with a sharp rut at the bottom. Allen doesn't call it out because it's not marked on our GPS. There are no down arrows by BITD exposing the danger. Nothing...just a huge friggin' hole!!!! The sun is in a position to where there are no shadows exposing the danger either. I have only ran down this road once and do not remember the danger. Other guys that I have talked to know about it and are very cautious to go through it without problems. I have heard that there have been a few guys that have eaten it in this spot. Well....add one more to the list!!!
We go into the hole at 115 mph and nose the front end into the other side!!!! This sends the car sideways. I try to recover the car but the road isnt wide enough. Another 20 feet or so and I may have pulled it off. We hit the burm and go flying into the air. We go end over end for 460 ft from the spot of the initial contact!!!! From what we can come up with, the car does about 6 complete flips or so!! It comes to rest on its side never once hitting the roof, only touching the front and rear of the car.
We come to rest and i yell to Allen if he is OK!! I yell it several times and I get no response. I get a huge sinking feeling...he is either knocked out or......I don't even want to think the other thing!!! I imediatly hit the emergensy reponse on our iritrack and then radio to our crew.

is it sad that as a marine electrician of off shore race boats all i could think about the entire video is how the person that installed the comm system in that truck doesn't know what they are doing, because if they did then there wouldn't have been that ignition system interference (the high pitched noise that got higher and lower with rpm)

on another note that looked like a not so fun ride for sure

Yep. he knows. he even stated what it was. Post your own thread.

The crash sucks, I went out with Team Xterra at the Parump 250, it was a blast to watch. Hard desert tho....

Nasty ride. On the bright side, they didn't take any direct hits into the cage. That crash with the Ranger, I saw the pics of the cab once they stripped the truck down. That hit on the passenger side A post, when the truck rotated on landing, bent the cage down a good bit. Glad they're pretty much OK. Been knocked out once or twice myself. Not fun, but the alternative in a crash like that is a lot worse.
