I looked around, but never really found what I was looking for. So, I made this myself. My 2010 LE had a single 12v charge port with a space above it that looked like another charge port could be installed. I installed a 12v charge port in the dash behind the radio and wired it so it was only on when the ignition switch was on. I then put a splitter in this port so I had 2 ports. I plugged my GPS into one and then routed the wire down through the top tray above the radio. I then plugged a 12v to usb port converter into the other side of the splitter and used a USB extension cord to run to the blank located above the standard 12v port. I removed the blank and cut a hole in it and used a 5 minute epoxy to bond the USB port into the blank. This works great to plug in my ipod or iphone, plus many of the numerous gadgets that used a standard USB plug to charge. Hope this gives some of you ideas. Enjoy.

nice idea, what year and model truck do you have? Mine has the two 12v outlets there, one is a switched outlet, the other is constant on.

The 05-08's had 2 cig plugs there, one was constant hot, the other switched. On trucks with an aux input in their radio, the top plug became the aux input spot.

The 09's and 10's got rid of the top power plug all together, so it was left blank, unless of course you had the aux input again.

I actually just bought the little switch door and installed it in the blank spot, I have been looking for something cool to put behind that little door lol.

FWIW, you can get a cigarette-lighter plug with a USB port from ebay for like $3/shipped. Take it apart, wire it up, install it in the blank as the OP did, and voila! (That's what I'm doing in my glove box to power the USB hard drive that needs a secondary power source).

this is exactly what I was looking for. I just installed a JVC HU and it has a USB running from the back but I didnt want to leave it dangling on the floor. I too have that blank spot just above the 12V outlet.

My HU has a USB cable coming out of the back too. Take a look at the end of page 1 of page 1 for my solution.
