I am not sure if this is the correct place for this post, but it is not really a modification.
My '05 LE KC came without the in cabin air filter. I purchased the 2 filters and would like to install them. I downed loaded some instructions on it, but they were not very specific.

I have been able to drop the glove box out of the way, but from there on I am lost. I
see where there was supposed to be an 8 mm bolt, but mine does not have the bolt.
I also see what I think is the cover for the filters, but I can not figure out how to get
it open.

The cover is firmly in place and I see no release on it nor is there any mention of a
release in the instructions. Has anyone added the filters to a truck that did not come
equiped with filters from the factory? If you have done this can you tell me what I need
need to do and if possible pictures always help me. And that coming from a person
who does not know how to post pictures.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hey Okie. If your truck does not have the 8mm bolt, you just have the plastic latch holding the cover on. It's a small latch that I've found opens with the assistance of a small screwdriver.

Once you remove the cover, the filters will slide in. The best way to install the new filters is to slide the first one in and move it to the side. (can't remember which side.) The second filter will follow. Don't worry about bending the filter a little bit. Sorry I don't have any pics.

I'm curious? You have an LE and you state you don't have a "in cabin filter"? .

My '06 SE came with a filter or so the paper work states it.

BTW.... my '03 Sentra did not come with one. Around 30000 I had the dealership add it. I wasn't impressed in the least after it was installed. I smelled the same odors and the amount of dust inside the cabin was the same.

I apologize for getting off topic, Okie. I wish I could help you out on this one.

youre in luck! i just did this on saturday.

no bolt in mine, either. to the center-right when you drop the box you will see what looks like an access door. at the top is the latch, just lift at the latch (mine was a little tight) and hold on to the door. after it released, i let go (i wasn't expecting it) and it dropped, but it's ok since its open at the bottom and it just fell to my feet.

slide the first filter straight out and the second one is off to the right. installation is opposite, and like panman said, don't worry about bending them a little. when the second one came out of mine, it was a little bent up. slide the first one in and push it over to the right. the second one will require small hands or a little fighting (it will wanna push agains tthe one off to the right and give resistance) but it should go relatively easy. access door goes back in, slipping into the bottom and latching at the top, then just close of the gove box.

all done.

good luck. i stared at my opened glove box for 10 mins w/ a flashlight trying to find this bolt I didnt have. don't think too hard about it, you should be done in no time.

I have a bolt (actually a screw) now because the little plastic tab snapped off when I went to open mine! I guess they were thinking ahead when they included a place for the bolt/screw!

so, can i just add this if the truck never came with it by just buying the filters? or is something else needed?
The only way to know for sure is to open up your glove box and see if you have the door/compartment for the filter. If you do, you should be able to pop it open and add the filters for ~$30.

My 2008 SE KC had the same problem. I felt tr air conditioning smelled a little so I decided to change the cabin air filter, I went to go change it and like others there was no bolt and no filter. Thanks Nissan for not including that when I bought the truck a couple of months ago

Go to ebay, there is a vendor with charcoal filters for a great price. Many of us bought from him. He goes under the name of simple air filters, here's a link.

YES NEED SOME HELP I HAVE A 2012 FRONTIER SV, DOES ANYONE KNOW THE SIZE OF THE SCREW/BOLT FOR THE CABIN AIR FILTER COVER? ALSO IS THERE A CHANGE THAT SOME OF THE STUFF TRAPPED BY THE FILTERS SAID FALL TO THE FAN?
The cover has a clip no screw. The clip is very easy to break.

Just pull the filter out. Would be difficult to dump the dirty material out.

There are better write up on this topic than this 9 year old thread.
