and I'm eye balling a Calmini 3" lift kit...am I going to be purchasing a 2WD version or 4WD version? What little reading I've done so far the Desert Runner is built on the 4X4 chassis. Yes?

The one I'm going to look at tomorrow is a 2K V6 auto...I'm not looking to do any "serious" off road, just a little more clearance and leveling and the ability to go with some bigger tires. My little lowered Honda Fit ain't cut out for camping and the occasional desert trail :)

You prob got the answer already but I'm pretty sure all desert runners are 2wd. I own a 01 5-speed KC. 1 good thing is that they are 500 pounds lighter than the 4x4, that means better power to weight ratio. You are correct they are built on the 4x4 frame.

Yes, they are 2WD, just not sure about the suspension due to the 4X4 chassis. I'll contact Calmini before I do anything. For tire and wheel searches I have to use the 4WD category on Tirerack and Discount Tire to get the correct stuff. And I did buy the truck :)

desert runners use the 4wd front suspension, so order a 4x4 lift kit

everything is the same (UCAs, LCAs... etc.)

Is the desertrunner suspension the same as the 4x4 only in the front?

I bought Air Lift 59506, which is supposed to be for the 4x4. The distance from my axle to frame is too far for this kit. Is this kit just garbage anyway?

I called a local trailer shop and they said nobody makes a leveling kit for the 2000 frontier. Any ideas? I race a sportbike and need a way to balance the rear suspension with my bike and stuff in the bed...
