OK. This is my last post asking about suspension, before I drop the money on a lift. After seeing that Mike is using Icon coilovers on his truck, getting 3" of lift, without UCA's, and no coil bucket contact (OEM length Icon), I've decided I can squeeze a lift into the budget now.

So first question is... Do PRG's radflo's offer the same lift, with no contact, as the Icons?? If they do, which setup looks best? PRG would be a few hundred cheaper, but I haven't called PreRunnerparts to see if he has a package deal on the following Icon setup.

Icon OEM replacement coilovers - set at 3" of lift
Mini Leaf spring pack - 2 leaf aal
Bilstein 5100 rear shocks - 0-2" lift

OR

PRG Radflo OEM replacement coilovers
Deaver Mini Leaf spring pack - 2 leaf aal
Bilstein 5125 rear shocks - 0-2" lift

Any advice/thoughts welcome.

Thanks

To add to the confusion, when I was looking, Greg steered me towards the SAW and I'm so glad he did because these SAW's ROCK!!! :D The shock body metal composition was changed to resist the corrosion and rust problems in high Salt areas that some earlier SAW versions were suffering from. He can explain the details when you talk to him.

Thanks for the reply everyone.

AVplayer: I knew that was gona be one of the first answers. I will contact him for more info.

Irongrave: Thankyou. I know you know your sh!t. And that was the reason I was leaning towards the Icons.

Pops: I would like a set of SAW's, but I would also like a pair of Kings. Problem is, as everyone elses, trying to do on a budget, and the SAW's and King's I think are just a bit too much rite now. But I will contact Greg and see what he says.

You are comparing a 2.0" coilover to a 2.5" coilover so that's some of the price difference.
SAW's and King's are also 2.5" coilovers SAW are $1100 and King's are $1400.

Both of the AAL pack you are looking only give 2" of lift.

they are both the same for lift though icons tend to do better with salt and such
my 2.5" radflos look as shiney as the day i got them - and we get lots of snow and salt up this way

Mike: thats what I figured the price would be like on those bad boys.

Zedbra: I was kinda hoping you would give your opinion on the radflo's and weather conditions. thx.

Basically just tryin to find best bang for buck, taking into consideration the amount of lift both provide, longevity/durability, and functionality. Thanks peeps.

if you have an Icon dealer in your province, i may steer you in that direction. Radflo's for the Frontier aren't supposed to have warranty outside of the USA, as I've been told from Radflo. I would decide based on what brand you can get serviced locally.

That's what I like about this forum. Everyone is more than willing to give you their opinion on what they feel is best. From what I have read, you can't go wrong with either CO. There are so many people that rave above the Rad's as well as the Icon's. As for the AAL, I believe 4x4parts offers a 3" AAL if you are interested in going up 3" in the rear. My .02 Good luck!!

Zedbra: I will look into local Icon dealers, however, im sure that if there is they would almost certainly charge me more than Prerunnerparts. Performance parts are stupid expensive in Manitoba. Just not enough 4x4 market here. And my shop where i get my dirt bike goods, says he could most likely rebuild the coilovers if need be, he does all the race bikes my buddies own (maybe apples and oranges??) round here.

Motorcop75: I was trying to decide if I wanted to sacrifice a "package" deal through Prerunnerparts, for the 3" leaf pack from 4x4parts. But, I really want my truck to sit level, and im thinking the 2" rear leafs would get me that, with 3" lift in the front. And Yes I do love being able to come on here and get useful advice/opinions and suggestions.

Thanks guys.

I believe Zedbra is talking about warranty work not service on the coilovers. Contact Icon and see what their warranty is in Canada.

yup. cuz most people that work on shocks/coils can rebuild any brand. moving forth, there is a Fox tech in town that will be working on my Radflos

Ah, Ok, will check on warranty of Icon's in Canada. How often do coilovers need rebuilding or recharging? Roughly. I know it depends alot on how hard they get used, but is the time frame similar to replacing worn out factory equipment?

Donnie,
For the heavy salt conditions I would definately go witht he Icon IVD coating. The standard co's would probably be fine but added protection is always better in questionable conditions. You shouldn't need any servicing or charging for quite a while but in case something happens Icon has a 1 year waranty against leaking even in the great white north.

^^^:( Well, doesn't that just suck a big floppy donkey dink. I just ordered my basic 4wd coilover package w/Deavers from Greg today! My main reason for the decision change from Icon was cost. Prerunnerparts was just too much by the time it was at my door with the extra IVM coating costs . And it wasn't for a lack of Nick trying. So decided call Greg, talked to that guy for like a half hour, gooood dude. Asked me what I use my truck for, and said that if not getting all four tires off the ground that the 2.0 would be more than capable for my needs. And I agreed. Plus it saves me like $500-$600 going Radflo (on my whole pkg).

Do you think I could just clear coat the sh!t out of the coilovers once I have them on and adjusted where I want, and maybe help reduce the corrosion???

I appreciate the post Mike. thanks
