I’m not looking to start a debate, but I do want to go after Nissan to fix the rear-end pop and slop. If you guys would stand behind me on this, I’ll fight to get it fixed. I know I’m am just one person and this would have more clout coming from a group. I’m thinking we make a list with our names, year, trim level and mileage. I can use this info to give to Nissan to fight them on this. If you don’t want to put your name, then a screen name would work. I would love to have the support of everyone on the board with this matter.

My father has a 2008 Toyota Camry that the paint started peeling off. I called Toyota and fought them till they repainted the messed up part of the car under warranty. I do not take no for an answer. I’m going to do everything that I can to get this fixed for all of us. Moderators please make this a sticky so more people will see it.

If you put as much energy into grammar class, it would be a whole lot more easier to understand your ultimate goal. You want every person that has had a rear-end issue, no matter what kind of rear end they have, to list their names? Is that right?

I got my rear-end replaced by nissan. They fixed my brake issue today, so all seem good for now. I just test drove it and it still pops.:comphead:

add me to the official list for pop and slop.

Although...i'm convinced it's not the rear end. Mine was replaced at about 25k miles (the entire rear axle) for a leaking pinion seal. Absolutely NO change in the "pop and slop". The ONLY thing that eliminates it is turning OFF overdrive.

It's the transmission folks. Not the rear end.

Thats what I thought too. It does not matter nissan needs to address where its coming from and fix it. The dealer just replaced my whole axle too and it still pops in between 37-40 mph.

Ok, you both missed a thread covering this, 37 to 40 mph slop-n-pop. Is what your discribing is the over drive "slamining" in. It only happens if there is little load on the trany and motor. (like on a flat surface and not accel, just cruz'in) If your are accel when it goes into O/D, it is very quite and smooth. This is the normal opperation. I'm not saying that its ok that is making so much noise....but I have never heard of O/D failing.

Your diffs "pop" when it breaks. Thats what I thought I was signing up for. My diff was replaced at 50K miles. To me that is unacceptable. Plus there is so many one here that have had the diff replaced. What just happend to vadkatrix is what I am haveing a hard time with. I got $100 a 1st gen hummer would not have broken.

I dont like that I cant use 4X4 on pachy snow covered roads, It may explode if I turn to sharp on a non snow cover patch. Thats what pisses me off.

The answer is writen above. It is not a mystery. It is the od engaging when there is little load on the drive line. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is why guys in manul trans dont notice this, Cuz there are the ones who shift, if it was a loud shift, it was there fault.

I do all the time - have to. If a 4x4 couldn't do this task, its not worth having for me.

^Agreed. But on here you will get your a$$ chewed on if you ask "can I use my 4X4 on pachy snow covered roads?" 10 people will say "NO"! It will blow up! You can only use it when almost competly stuck. And IMO that is BS, and I 100% promise you if I would have known that when looking for a truck, I would not have bought the one I have now.

I'm not a hard core 4x4er and i'm not a mall crawer either. I wish i had something that could be used on roads that MIGHT be slippy.

The responces on here are slow down, you dont need 4x4 unless your up to your mirrors in mud. Thats BS IMHO!

Oy vey! Is it really that bad?

Seems like when I read those posts, the comments are more along the lines of using the 4wd in situations it was designed for. 4wd is not designed to be used in 100% traction situations.

I think the tendency is to error on the side of caution and prolong the lifespan of parts. Would you not agree that some here go beyond intended use and then complain when it breaks?

I agree with the above that is in red. But I dont like that I cant use it..."just in case" In 2001 I was driving my 1995 F150 exteded cab, long bed truck. It was Feb. I was getting lunch and the roads had patchy spots of snow. That truck had 4X4 but it had been broken for some time.

Well I was going a good safe speed for the conditions, well as I was just cruz'in on a slight sweaping left hand turn the truck un-expectingly (auto trans) down shifted and reved up, to maintain the current speed.

In this action it broke the rear tire loose, I 180 spun around and hit an on coming car. I will say again, I was doing a safe speed. If it was in 4X4 I believe this would not have spun around like it did. This is why I have such discust with our trucks not being able to drive in 4X4 "just in case."

Don't forget the timing chain!!!!! I want to be on the list 2. Just for the record I leave the O.D off on anything under 40mph. You can use 4X4 on dry roads as long as your not making tight turns but you want to make sure its not a long distance drive, and the more you use it the sooner you need to change the fluids, in the front Dif.
