Hi all,
as you all know I'm somewhat new here and got to say I love this site and the trucks on it. All of you do some great mods on ur trucks. now I been reading and trying to see what direction to take my truck into its 2006 Frontier Crewcab 2x4. Now I am a big fan of the lowered trucks but I read that the Crewcab are not as easy to drop as the their older cousin 720, hardbody and so plus it will take some cash and i am on some what of a budget...
But I also like all the jacked up rigs on here some of these frontiers are looking sick as hell and Im lovin them. so I am think of at least maybe raising my truck two inches nothing bigtime like I said on a budget, but want to make sure that this will not cuase a problem being that my truck is only a 2x4.
I wont be doing any rock climbing or anything like that just street and getting through the rougher roads down here.

So my questions are;
What are the pros and con of lifting a 2x4 crewcab?
What will I need in order to get this done?
where can i find the best parts at good prices?
I can do this myself without getting my pockets raped by someone out there?

sorry if I did not post this in correct section, please mods move it if it is in the wrong section.

thanks Niel,

Most will probably point you to PRG. Per other threads I have read, they seem to have good products, and a good following here of people that can assist.

1) I can't really tell you what the pros are besides a little extra clearance. Is it necessary? Probably not. Does the truck look better lifted? I think so.
The cons are that once you lift it a little bit, you will want more later.

2) That depends. Do you want to do a body lift? Suspension lift? I just did a 2" body lift on my truck and am 110% pleased with it.

3) That depends what you are looking for. PRG for some things, 4x4parts for other things and alldayfab/ADF for spacers if you want to go that route.
I ordered a 2" spacer from ADF, should be here Friday.

4) If you have tools to do the install, you can do it yourself. Otherwise maybe other folks near you would be willing to help out for some pizza or something. If you are willing to make a drive and not wanting to do the work yourself, a buddy of mine has a shop and is pretty fair on pricing.

If all you want is 2 inches and you won't be doing any serious off-roading, the general consensus will probably be to just get a spacer lift for the front and either blocks or shackles for the back (most prefer shackles over blocks). That's the cheapest, easiest lift available. You could install it yourself and just get an alignment afterward. You may also need to buy adjustable camber bolts for the alignment if your truck didn't come with them.

The most popular brand around here is PRG which will be essentially a one stop shop for everything you would need. They are a site sponsor and everyone around here that has bought from them rave about the great product and service.

...but what you really need to do is just spend some time searching through the Suspension Forum on here and most of your questions should be answered there. Also check out the sticky for the 05+ suspension lifts here - http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f26/suspension-lifts-05-a-15966/

With my truck being a 2wd as well I'm going to go a slightly more expensive route with my lift. I'm going to use Bilstein 5100 series lift shocks up front and 4x4parts Medium Duty Rear Leaf Springs for the back. I'm choosing to completely replace the rear leaf springs because I use my truck to tow a lot. My dream lift would consist of CST Spindles, Radflo's, Replacement Leaf Pack, and Shackles but, with that I'm looking at ~$2000 and I don't have that.

Well I am looking for a suspension lift I guess becuase I dont know about how to do a body lift for sure i will have to go to someone to get it done.

But nothing will get messed up, will the angle of the driveshaft have to be changed with a suspension lift?
I just want my truck to good and stocky being that it still has the out of the dealer look which is fine but it about time that I made it my since I only have 1 yr and a 1/2 to pay it off.

The 2" body lift is very straightforward. I did it myself (well, my daughter helped at one point) in my garage. It is really on the same level as installing a suspension lift, you are just doing the body instead. You won't need an alignment or camber bolts with the body lift which means overall it will probably cost you a little less to do. All you have to do is buy the kit from 4x4parts and call it a day!

Like everyone else said, just do some searching in the suspension section before you make the jump into anything.
