I have had an annoying humming sound in my frontier for a few months now. One mechanic told me it's the alternator but that it's fine and won't affect the engine. But I'm worried that alternator will just go out and leave me stranded. So I got a second opinion from another mechanic and he told me it's the distributor. The sound is more obvious when I start the engine and when I rev it up. Can anyone tell me how to check it to see what's making that noise. I thought about just replacing the alternator but then I don't want to find out that it still makes that sound and it was something else. Please let me know if you have any ideas.
