Hey Guys,
I've been searching the forums for a while now and I'm having a little trouble trying to find a thread on how to remove the center console(The area that holds the shifter). All threads seem to refer to the removal of the radio console.

Is it just all held in by clips or are there any screws I have to remove? Just looking to install a Aux input in the console compartment and run the cable down the console and to drill the hole in to hold the plug.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Nick

there is a screw on each side in the front. The drivers side you can get to, the passenger side you need to remove the glove box.

There is a screw on each side in the rear, down low, slide the seats up to see them.

The back half top pops off there are 2 screws holding the back half and front half bottoms together. The wire to the power plugs unclip and unplug

dont know if the autos are different from the 6spd., but on my 6spd if I remember correctly grip the cup holders and give it a good tug upwards it will pop off. Then the area around the shifter boot dose the same. Not to bad at all. Under the cup holder area is a tension ajuster for the e-brake as well.

Yea, that is how my auto is, pop the tops off to get to the screws. I had to take the trim off under the steering wheel, glove box, and center console (that the radio goes in) to get to the 2 hidden screws on the front of the box. It was a royal PITA if you ask me.

However, if all you want to do is run a wire you should just be able to pop off the tops, and loosen the 2 screws that connect the 2 sections and snake the cable. I did that to run an ipod cable into the console compartement and drill a hole into the lower portion of the box to fish the cable through.

I have an xe manual you literally just pull it up with a little force starting with the cup holders and it pops off.
