so i found that my lower ball joint boots have grease coming out of them. i don't see that they are torn, so i'd like to just grease them up. i have a grease gun, but it seems like the end is a bit too big and i don't want to tear the boot. any special technique to this, or am i over thinking this?

They have no grease fittings so if there is grease around them there is probably a small tear somewhere that lets the grease out as they move.... You're technically supposed to replace them but you can crafty with a turkey syringe and something like an IV line.

i know there are no fittings - i was hoping there was a crafty way.

so is there a way to replace the boots without doing the ball joint as well? i know the ball joint is pressed into the lower control arm, and only comes as a unit. i'd like to avoid that if possible.

you could use a needle syringe. The hole will seal itself but it needs a small sharp point.
