I just put a new set of 31x1050x15 Federal MTs on my XE this morning. I was concerned about how much power would be lost with the extra two inches being added to the tire size. After driving it a little bit I can notice a little bit of a difference in power but nothing drastic. The one good thing that I did notice was the fact that my ride was way better especially off road. Plus the truck sits a lot higher which is much better. Is there anyway in which I can get my lost power back? I thought of getting a K&N air filter but I dont know how much that would help. If anybody has any ideas I would sure like to hear them. I also was curious as to how much my gas mileage would go down. As everybody knows when your in college you dont have any extra money.lol

A cold air intake will help a good bit. I put a Volant CAI on after I put 285/75/R16's and I got a lot more throttle response and my gas mileage went up about 1.5 MPG.

I found a used one that another clubfrontier member was selling and got it for $150 which was half the price new :)

I wish I could get a cold air intake but I have the little 4cyl 5 speed so that ruins that idea. I have seen some guys on here make a custom CAI for there XEs but I havent really had the time to do it yet. I am thinking of down grading to 30x9.50x15 so I will get some power and gas mileage back. I may see what kind of mileage I am getting after this week and then go from there. I hate to down grade since the 31s look bad A.lol

Ya I put a 2" leveling kit on the front and I ordered 1.5" blocks for the rear from PRG. Stock tires on an XE are 235s, now on the 4cyl automatic I think the stock size is 265s. Anyway its actually not as bad on power and gas as I thought. I have a 60 gallon diesel tank in the back for my dozer so its sucks down a lot more gas just hauling that thing around all the time.
