I have 11,000 more miles to decide what to do with my frontier.
It needs a tuneup, leaks a bit of oil, and I like the gen2s...

Used Miles limit

I am looking at some used ones. I actually like the 1st gen better but I have learned a newer one with more miles can be better then an older with less miles. The power windows and other rubber parts wear out on the older ones.

I want to put about 30K to 40K tops on one over the next 5 years or so. Will these make it?

One I am looking at is 139K on a 2006.

1st gens around 2003 to 2005 have 100-120K.

What was the first year that where the king cabs could open? Looks like 2005?

I would probably go with the V6.

Both same price.

Thanks

It will last a long time if you treat it right.

Original owner - 198K on my 05 SE 4x4...mostly highway miles. Goal is to get 400K. Let me just say, I like this truck and "hope" to get that many miles but it really has been a jinx on me since the day I bought it in March 2005. The very last impulse buy I'll ever experience. :) Side note....May 2005 I hit a deer and smashed the front end pretty good but not good enough to total.

Perform normal maintenance stuff like oil\filter changes and keep good tires filled to proper levels. Only used Mobile 1 synthetic for approximately 50K miles and could not see the benefit of the added expense. Castrol GTX is what I currently use. That's really it.

Things to do or done....
1) Replaced fuel sending unit
2) Recently replaced spark plugs - yep, at almost 200K. Plugs looked "white" and spent.
3) Will use Shane's "how to" link on changing front and rear differential fluids and transfer case this weekend (I have a c200 - thanks to the research here) NEVER CHANGED
4) Drain\Fill transmission in a few weeks - Shane's "how to" link. NEVER CHANGED and still shifts as smooth as when I first bought it.
5) Catalytic converter (driver's side rear) went out a few hundred miles out of warranty. Any hints on how to remedy this without spending some major $$$? Read about bypassing the back CCs....
6) That dang POS tail gate. Almost broke my finger a few time trying to get it working.

I'm knocking on wood right now in hopes nothing blows up on me today or anytime soon. :)
Let us know how your transmission reacts to that fluid change. All the research I have done says if you haven't been changing transmission fluid on a regular basis just leave it alone because the dirt in the fluid is actually keeping the transmission working. I have 105k miles and have been wanting to do a drain and fill but I am afraid to.

I just rolled 190,000 miles on my 09 equator with the 2.5 liter.Only thing i have ever had to do to it is change the front wheel/hub assembly(wheel bearings) waiting on them to come in as we speak.I use mine for work and other than lacking power it is one of the best trucks mechanically that I have ever owned.

Will do. Haven't done it yet...

i already have 53k on my 09 that i bought new.

if i keep it, i better get at least 150k out of it.

my brother has 200,000+ on his 2002 dakota

I have 213,000 on my 07 4x4,it's been put through Hell and back since I bought it new in 07,
Things done
1 timing chain recall at 60k
Had 2 hub assemblies replaced
And now my fuel sending unit has gone bad.I love this truck. It has been the best one I've ever had

Sold mine with 405,000 miles on it a few years ago. Engine ran great but was a bit down on power. Saw it a year later still going. I got 1500 dollars for it. Phone rang off the hook for a week.

I bought my '05 used at 169,000 miles, it's now 175,000. The engine's been reliable thus far, and I hope that it takes me to at least 250K miles. Most of the other components have been changed/modded, or are in good shape, and I've invested a fair amount in off-road upgrades; when the engine finally gives up the ghost, I'm thinking of buying a second-hand one and just dropping it in.

300,000 Easy

Good maintenance and I'd think 300K easy. Probably get wrecked before it's end of life. I'm also assuming everything can be rebuilt or replaced to keep it going. Running synthetics, preventative maintenance... will make a difference if you are planning on running that many miles. I put about 20K on each year, but need a newer car for work reasons. I'll probably retire before this one needs to be replaced, so likely will keep this one until it turns back to dust. I'll post back in 15 years and let you all know. ::smile::

How many Miles can I expect to get out of my Nissan Frontier.

Purchased mine in Dec 2006. Got the Frontier LE extended bed with 14 miles on it. I've driven it as a regular driver and have 240K miles on it now.

Changed to synthetic oil around 100k.

I changed out the water pump at 235K.

Changed plugs and wires about 150K.

I bypassed the transmission/radiator to avoid the known transmission problems at about 80K

A cheap battery shorted out and fried my computer, but that's not a nissan problem, but I learned my lesson to buy good batteries.

I had some sensor that was out at about 200K where the engine would shut off. Easy to figure out, easy to change out.

changed struts, u joints, and shocks somewhere around 200K

May need a tune up now, engine light came on and the code states either Vacuum leak or possible spark plug or wire.

Had very few problems with it, but it's getting to the age, I don't like taking long trips with it.

The paint on the truck still looks new when it's clean. My roof rack bars have lost some of the paint.

My wife Hit my truck once from behind, that folder the bed fender a little. I backed up into a forklift at work and messed up the driver side bumper and damaged the tailgate. Kept rolling it like that.

My interior is leather. The driver seat perf has ripped, but I'm 6' 275lbs. Changed out driver windows controls twice, and driver window motor once.

I've left my sunroof open at least twice and got rain in the truck with little problems.

So it's 2019. Do I keep rolling the truck or get a new one. I test drove a 2019 pro4x this week. I want a 4x4 now. It's got leather interior and sunroof, but short bed. I think I can live with that because the turning radius on my truck has always been an issue. I like the turning radius on the shorter bed.

As far as I can tell the 2019 Nissan Frontier is the exact same truck. They made minor adjustments. Added blue tooth and new stereo with gps, but same rockford fosgate speaker setup. The tailgate has a fin on it now. The front lights are slightly different. The power controls on the front seats have an added lip to prevent from ripping into the seat (Mine did that pretty early on, but I am a pretty big guy)

The downside, is that it's the same exact truck. with 4x4 it's rated at one mile per gallon less than i get now. I consistently get a combined 18mpg on mine.

All the other truck brands have updated everything. The Ram 1500 has really nice features. But will i get a good 100K 200k out of it?

Test drove the tacoma yesterday. It was a smoother ride than the new 4x4 pro4x and a push button start. That it all i can say for it. There is not as much headroom as the nissan frontier. and the hood is huge and gets in the way of visibility. If I wanted that I'd step up to a bigger truck. The Tundra didn't feel as "tankish" as the tacoma to me.

Do I got with the New 2019 pro4x? or wait till the new body style to come out and deal with first year bugs? or just wait until my 2007 dies? What are you guys getting out of your Nissan frontiers? Would you buy another?

I see. I just rolled over 74,000 last month. I have owned the truck just over 72 months.
First owner put 53k on mine in four yrs. I'm at 75k now and I arrived in one extra yr. I'm assuming he had more vehicles for DDs. :)

owns 2014 Nissan Frontier Pro4x
honestly I got this truck to drive it, have about 24.5k on the clock now and its been 16 months since new.
i'm about to add another 2k miles in the next 4 weeks.

hoping to get 100's of thousands miles.
I also got this truck knowing parts are available and truck is not too hard to work on (do my own work)
