This issue with my 2nd gen frontier developed over the winter, now that things are warming up it's time to fix it.

When my hood release latch is pulled, it feels much looser than usual and the hood doesn't pop. In order to open my hood i have to get someone to keep the latch inside pulled while i lift the hood and press that latch to the side to open it. So what I'm thinking is that my hood is not closing all the way which would explain why my latch on the inside of the truck feels loose - no pop, and why i can see my hood move up and down as I'm driving.

So... how do i fix this? I briefly looked for anything that could prevent the hood from closing completely and cant quite find it, maybe its worth a second look, or can the latch/lock that holds the hood closed be adjusted or will it need replacing?

Cheers.

I would look at the latching mechanism again, real close to see if anything has broken like a spring. I can't go look at mine at the moment but i believe that is what holds the hood down and pops it up when you pull the latch.

Does it actuate correctly when open? Lube it well then try it as my Pathfinder used to get stuck like that.

I just looked at my new 2016 CC 4x2 S hood latch and it still has the factory monkey grease on it. If you have a can of WD40, spray some and that should free things up. Another this that I like to use as an alternative to monkey grease is Vasaline!
