I've installed a Hidden Hitch on my 05. I used a Nissan harness for the tralier plug as well as the aftermarket brake booster under the dash. Use the harnesses from Nissan - Highly recommended. (besides, your truck is already wired for it) The install was clean and tidy and everything is there including relays. (The booster adaptor and trailer plug harnesses are separate p/n's)

One thing you'll run into using an aftermarket hitch is that there won't be a place to mount the factory Nissan trailer plug port. (The factory Nissan hitch has a place built into it) You'll have to be a little creative and make a bracket to hold it in place if you go the aftermarket hitch route.

Good luck with the install.

I have the factory installed hitch. It's a real clean install and I think it's well worth the little extra money. And if the aftermarket one doesn't have a bracket for the plug as rmswitch mentioned, you'd have to come up with something. Let us know how it works out...

I ran into that problem myself... thought I'd saved money getting a class III after market, but then had to fabricate up a place for that rcvr harness. I think it came out OK though:

You can see how it came out here: http://www.jeffleggett.com/gallery/2005NISMO/2005_NISMO_Pics_025?full=1[/url]

I am looking at adding a tow hitch to my 06. Nissan one is $165 + shipping. U-haul sells one of their own brand for $120. Anyone have experience with both (or other brands - Hidden Hitch, DrawTite)?

I would be buying a Nissan OEM harness.
I paid $260 for everything after taxes at local dealership! I ordered everything from them, including the ball and harness! install took some 20 minutes!

So I can assume everybody would say no to the class III I found at Wally World for 100.00. Was thinking of picking it up.

I have a hidden hitch and there is a place for the harness to mount on the bottom of the bumper. I don't know why others have had trouble mounting it. My harness even came w/ a mounting bracket that lines up w/ the predrilled holes.
