Don't mean to start a 'brush-fire', but.... many have 'weighed in' with various opinions on both the advantages and disadvantages of HID updates that I for one am now totally confused. Reports have the advantages of HID upgrades as offering brighter lights, but others point out the serious drawback of unfocused light that may actually be hazardous to oncoming traffic as well as those in front of you. Some opine that retrofitting to projectors is really the best and only way to achieve what we're looking for: brighter, focused lights BUT at what cost? Unless you're willing to part with something in the neighborhood of $300 (and thats only of you're ready to remove your headlight assembly, take it apart and reassemble it). Having it done for you by a local retrofitter brings the cost to something like $500 or more. If all of that is accurate and not just hobbyist/enthusiast nit-picking, I'm going to just 'sit this one out'. Would like to hear from those out there with real-world, 'been-there, done-that' experience to help resolve this confusion. Maybe we can distill the rhetoric down to factual, applicable knowledge. Fire away!

The thread title is confusing.

I've already shared my experiences.

I have dealt with a handful of retrofits and have owned a few PnP kits, the differences are obvious. No "I heard from my father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate" nonsense from me.
I've showed you the pictures of what a PnP kit looks like and what a retrofit looks like, there really isn't anything left to this except for you making a decision on what you want. If you aren't ready to make a decision, do some searching on HIDPlanet.com and really learn what it is all about.
The projector headlights listed above aren't intended for HID, so while you might get a better, more visible cutoff, the intensity and beam pattern is still going to suffer.
I'm not making this up just to type it all out.

I already told you to leave this one alone because it is not worth the hassle that it is.

The only choice is a retrofit that is probably not going to give you any significant better lighting. Best it will do is make your truck unique and look neater.

If you're desperate for them (as in you can't sleep over this), find a custom auto shop and let a pro install this for you. The shops that do this are limited because all aftermarket HID are illegal (not DOT approved), but they slide by saying "off-road use only." You will be paying 500-1000 per headlight for a quality shop to do the right quality work or you can find some random guy that will do this for you cheaper, but you'll be risking the quality that you'll get and may have issues plaguing you as long as you own the vehicle.

So you are saying the kits that come with built in HID's are not intended for HID's? My intensity and beam pattern match my 09 Maxima HID's perfect.

Anyone can package an HID kit with a headlight housing. I have seen other vehicles with these "kits" and while the light output is a tad better than a PnP kit in a reflector housing, they still aren't an actual HID projector. This is why they are so cheap.
Take comparison pics, if I am wrong I don't mind learning.

These are the same headlights, they are made for halogen bulbs.
