Anybody use the stock headlamp retainer ring on their HID install? (The white plastic ring that holds the stock bulb in)

It will depend on the kit you have. Some brands of HID bulbs will fit slightly different than stock, not allowing you to tighten down the retainer ring. All of the HID bulbs i've used have had a slight variation in how they fit the headlight socket. If possible, try to use that ring...it will help your bulbs stay snug and not bounce around when you run over potholes or bumps in the road. However, if the ring won't fit with your HID bulbs, just make sure the bulbs are snug and won't fall out.

I have the DDM BiXenon. I am going to get a couple clips and dremel the edge tuse the clips. I feel better as you stated to have them snug.

I have mine in. Bulb fits in exactly like the stock ones, no problems.

On my kit the bulbs have a plate where the wires come out that hits the outta edge. I am gonna dremel a notch to allow the 1/4 turn to clear that spot. Better this way as stated for long term solution.

Yah, probably not a bad idea to find a better way of securing them in there. I know my bulbs just twisted in like normal and seem relatively secure. I've taken my truck over some bumpy winter roads with no looseness created so I doubt I'll go ahead and change anything, but I'd sure be interested to see what you come up with because I could not for the life of me figure out how those old rings would work.

no trimming needed. just make sure to remove the clear rubber washer and it will fit like a glove

Hmm...I might have to take another look at this then. I know without the rings in place the bulbs have been secure for over a month so the need for them can be debated, but if there's a way to make those rings work I wouldn't mind to find it.

there is NO modification needed if you use the DDM kit. I can't speak for the other kits though.
Two things either you don't have a Bi-Xenon version or DDM has changed their bulbs in the Bi-Xenon. (Another member "Nissanpowerbaby" experienced the same issue lately)

When you seperate the bulb from the mount to slide on the retaining ring the plate that is on the bottom of the bulb does not clear the inner edge of the retainer. There is absolutely no way. As for after you modify it is necessary I believe that you have to remove the clear washer as noted to turn them in as I did have some issues there.

DarqueGT, does your bulbs have these plates...?

there should be a clear (it was for me) washer on the base of the bulb where the white retainer ring will contact it. take that off and you should be good. it took me a day or so to figure it out.

Excellent picture firefighter. This looks like the same issue I had.
