Hi,
Just picked up a 2010 Pro 4X in Night Armor...super sexy color. I'm looking to add the Garmin Dock w/ GPS and am considering doing it myself. A buddy has an 07 truck which he upgraded. He said the docking station is super easy to install but my dash looks a bit different than his. Has anyone done this upgrade in a 2010 model yet? I've seen several posts for older models but nothing for a 2010 yet. It looks like I can buy the docking station from the dealer for $110. I already have the Garmin 780. That just leaves the labor. This is my first new truck ever. It's still so new so I'm a bit hesitant to start ripping the dash apart. I haven't even had put gas in it yet. I'm glad I stumbled across this site. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome, congrats on the truck.
Look in the search section and there is a write up with pictures on it. It is an easy install. My truck came with it (Nuvi 750) from the factory for $200 which was a steal in my book.

I looked an only the PDF manual for the an older model. When I inquired about the part to the service manager he said he was familiar and I'd have to drill my dash. My buddy who did the same install on an 07 didnt have to drill anything. I'm guessing the part has been slightly modified in the past 3 years. $200 is an awesome deal. The dealer wants $420 for the GPS, Docking Station and labor. Docking station = $110, GPS = $170(amazon) so that leaves $140 for labor which seems really high since I've read this is a 30 minute job.

No drilling is needed it's the same install as before. The tray on top is removed and wires go inside from there. Try to get the dealer to cut the price to half of what was quoted.

i have a 2010 took me 20 mins to install i didnt even pulled the battery out but i think you should lol

the part number is the same as the 09's don't worry there are instructions with the dock i have the 780 too.

i'm considering doing this myself as well and believe i have a pdf of the dealer instructions for installation. i'll send along a link if i'm recalling correctly. i've read so much info of the frontiers lately, i've lost track of what's real, what i've kept, and where it came from.

GPS Update

I picked up the dock/housing from the dealer last night. $96 after taxes. I'm excited to install. Probably gonna tackle this tomorrow night. My truck is actually in the shop today for an ac problem. It came with instructions but I haven't really looked into them yet. Please send me anything you feel is pertinent via pm. Thanks.
